August 22, 201312 yr When you get a shiver its meant to mean that someone has walked over your grave, It's a saying I still use to my day as my mother used to say 'someone walked over my grave' when she shivered, I personally don't believe in anything super natural like that at all, it's something which has stuck with me.

August 22, 201312 yr If you see a headless white dog, dig into the ground where you saw it standing and you'll find treasure. I'm sure you'll see one; they're everywhere Though is it treasure or treasure? Treasure as in riches, or treasure as something precious to someone? 0_0
August 22, 201312 yr These are Irish wive's tales If a robin comes to your house, death will follow your family If a magpie comes to your window, death will follow your family If your ears are burning or itchy someone is speaking ill of you If your nose is itchy you will be in a fight or kiss a fool If your right hand is itchy you will come into money, if the left hand itches you will have to give out money If your elbow is itchy you will relocate A whistling girl or a crowning hen is neither fit for God nor men. (Bad luck) If any bird comes pecking at your window it's a bad omen Killing a robin will fill your life with misery You must never build on the site of a Fairy Fort. To make sure your land wasn't inhabited by fairies you must set up 4 pillars on the corners of the site overnight. If they are gone, destroyed or knocked over by morning, you cannot build there. Never place new shoes on a table. Turning off the lights during supper will result in one less face at the dining table within a year Souls of the dead who die abroad will never rest until they are buried in Ireland If you are curious as to the identity of the person you will marry, place a snail on a plate of flour overnight. They will trace out your future partners initial. Women who die during childbirth and still births will be taken to live with fairies. Red sky at night, Farmer's delight, Red sky in morning, Farmer's warning When you are plagued by demons chasing you at night, cross a stream or river. Demons can't cross water. You should never pick up an unchristened child without blessing yourself first Cutting the nails of a baby before they turn 1 will cause them to become a kleptomaniac Birds such raven's and water wagtails are messengers of Satan. A married couple will never have children if their enemy ties a handkerchief of theirs in a knot. This can't be undone until the handkerchief is untied. Those born in the evening can control ghosts. The seventh born of the seventh son is believed to have the power to cure diseases Creatures Puca's are benevolent evil spirits who'll stand outside your house and call your name and once you come outside they'll drag you away. On a good day they'll just destroy the farm. Farmers can prevent this by offering them a share of their harvest. A Banshee is a woman who let's out the most piercing cries, the family of those who hear it will experience a death in the family. She is a bad omen. Around my area, the legend was that a woman would appear at your window, and upon looking at her face she'll let out a heart stopping houl that'll shatter the windows giving her the free path to throw a sharp edged comb at you. But the former is the most common legend about the Banshee. Fairies give birth to deformed children known as changelings. Fairies then swap these with human children, and the changeling will only ever be happy in the family when they're experiencing misfortune. The mothers who die in childbirth who are taken by the fairies, are asked to look after the human children they take. The Dullahan is our version of the headless horseman. People are destined to die when it's horse who breathes fire pulls to a stop in front of their house.
August 22, 201312 yr Hmmm....hmmmmmm.....I have nothing good compared to the last person. in brazil there is supposedly a man who kidnaps children, put them in a bag, beats them to death then drops off their bodies at their families house. So children are told to not wander the streets at night. My cousin in brazil told me that when we were kids. Dont know if it count but its all I got.

It's a child with white hair that will lure kids into playing with him during siesta. In some versions he'll kill them, in others he'll eat them, and then there's a version where he lets them go back home (but no one tells that version ). It's a good story to scare kids from running off during siesta.

Okay, I will be sure to dig where ever I see a white headless dog standing then!Hmm, that story in Paraguay it is a good way to scare kids from running off, but it is also a good way to alienate albinos. Though that reminds me, some versions of the Wendigo supposedly has white fur, there is the myth of miners becoming cannibalistic and getting white eyes, and Yama-uba's true form has white hair. Now I am wondering if there is some connecting in between cannibalism myths and white features.

And I never thought about his hair being white meaning he's albino, though I suppose that should be obvious. But hey, at least he's a god. One of the seven evil gods... The dog might be albino and he's good!

One of the seven evil gods... The dog might be albino and he's good! I was just thinking of albino since what you were talking about appears as a kid, and usually when I hear about a kid with white hair I hear about an albino... And I didn't state it, but I meant beings that resemble humans or were formally humans with white features. And anyways that dog doesn't have a head to eat you with, but it is a good point.
