Hey everyone! I'm MDS Veritas and welcome to the sign ups for my new RP idea; Echoes and Ash. I've had the pleasure of being part of a lot of RPs here and I've even started a couple, and I've spent the last couple months thinking up an idea for a new RP. If the vague text above seems at all interesting, I'd ask you to maybe take a look at the RP brief, and, if you're interested in signing up, just reading the rules and filling out a form. The course of human history has always been a rocky one. The more technology and advancements that the human race creates the more potential for skirting a line of self destruction there is. The year is 2185, and humanity's reach has gone into the stars. Thousands of planets now act as humanity's home. New technologies continue to emerge; exciting, fascinating new inventions that could possibly revolutionize the life of every human. In fact, human-kind seems to be moving faster than ever. Much of this new-found speed is due to the abilities of SAs- the "sentient artificials"- which are human-built software-based intelligences with huge logic capabilities and built to replicate human thought as to work well with the scientists with whom they co-exist. A bright future lies ahead of the human race as star ships roam the galaxy, people live among hundreds of different planets, and the scientific horizons of humanity seem endless.

 

That was 2185. That was 19 years ago. That was when it happened. After coming so far human kind suddenly disappeared in a day without a trace. Trillions of souls gone in a heartbeat. The SAs in service went offline one by one until seemingly all were gone. The galaxy was completely silent, and not a soul knows why. However, for all the humans that disappeared on that day, some still survive. 200 years prior, a project began wherein select humans were cryogenically frozen and they were preserved secretly hidden away from the world. For 200 years the people of the early 21st century slept. They are about to be brought back, and it is up to them to find out what happened to the humans, and what dark force is behind it.

 

They fell asleep in a world of activity  and opportunity. They will wake in a world of Echoes and Ash, and they will not be alone.

 

Perhaps not all the SAs went offline...

 Sound interesting? Well then let me give you a rundown of the rules I have in mind and let you get to the character applications if you're interested!

 

• First and foremost; have fun! This is an adventure I hope everyone involved can go on, and that's what it should be all about; the thrill of discovery, the thought of piecing together a puzzle of history, and of course the unpredictability of getting to interact with other characters.
• One character per person. I understand that people like to create their own sets of characters to interact with each other but I'd like to push interacting with other players even more! If your character dies you do have the option to create a new one.
• This is what I like to think of as a "Miniseries" RP. By that I mean I have a distinct amount of things and places in this RP, it's not going to go on for a very long time and you don't have to dedicate a huge amount of time to it without much of a payoff. As such, if you apply, please try to stick with the RP.
• Be fair to other players. Your attacks need to be open for possible dodging and for the love all things good, please don't pull the "I teleport behind you" trick in every fight you're in. Make fights interesting, make them fair. There are going to be things you character can't do in this RP, and choices that have no right answer.
• I'm aiming for a certain amount of people in this RP, and while I think and hope we'll hit that, just so you know there's still a chance I may choose against starting it now if there aren't enough characters.

 

Sound good? Let's go right onto the character template then. The thing to remember, though, is that you're making a character from the present day, they simply wake up in the future. As far as weapons, get as sci-fi creative as you want, and I'll just check to make sure it's balanced enough to use.

As much as I want to post right now, I can't. I'm going to Disneyland and probably won't be able to post till tomorrow. Considering I'm the only team Veridyan that's down there right now, not looking good for the green brat.

ATTENTION ALL RPers.

 

I know that some of you may have lost a bit of what is going on, and understandably so, but now that this section of the story is over I'm hoping to refocus a bit, and as a result, everyone should be able to get back into the swing of things.

 

First a quick recap; everyone infiltrated SS-Psi to untether their respective SAs to learn the truth of the human disappearance, going against an antagonistic AI names Daerius. They discovered the origin of Veridyan, Rytt, Elaryse, and mysterious fourth SA names Vergyl. All three groups met in the bridge and proceeded to the main nexus area, where Daerius and the tether controls. There they defeated all the enemies sent against them defeated Daerius, learned about a mysterious project known as the Genesys machine, and finally Seraphim untethered all three SAs. Daerius triggered a station self-destruct at the last moment, though, and now everyone is floating in space.

 

From here you must choose one of the three SAs to ally with, and go and find the Genesys machine and discover the origin of the mass human disappearance, as well as fight the players who ally with the other SAs.

 

I will give until Sunday night for this choice to be made. After that all people remaining in space will be considered killed.

Just so you all know, I'm not gonna be posting anything on the RP till tomorrow just to give a bit more time till the deadline for deciding. So don't worry if your characters interactions with SAs aren't immediately returned.

Just so you guys know I'm away from my computer so there will be a quick break before the infiltration begins. See you guys Monday!

I'm not carrying Derik. He is on the ground right now. And the portal won't kill anyone, it just sends them to the other portal. But it prevents anyone from going through the door. And only Ferro can remove it.

In any case, so long as Sikota is fine with it we're good to proceed. Things are definitely getting... very interesting...
