The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

"Don't have to ask me twice." Derik exited the pod, immediately going to the first Holoconsole on the left. "How about next time just tell me what happened? I wanted this info from the beginning. Also, the robot who let me out is far from my buddy." Derik stared at the console and waited for the info to play.

"Crap!" Rija called back to her "teammates". As the toxin started leaking through to the airlock. She thought about what she could do with the tools she had. Her saber and pistols couldn't do much other than hasten the toxins release. Was there something in the hallway she was in? Rija looked around fervently, hoping for something that could help...

"Better get moving!" Henko declared cheerfully. He grabbed Rin and fired a blast from Brutality to send them flying down the hall. They eventually landed and he pulled her with him past Rija and towards the first turn. They'll go one way, the gas would go both so this first fork was critical.

(THANK YOU SIKOTA)

Rin didn't bother fighting out of Henko's grip, she pointed right.

"We should go right." She stated.

"We need to get out of here either way. Remember 'Survival is all we've got'." Rin quoted Henko's own words.

Rodin says to Seraphim:  "Would've been kind of nice to know beforehand!"  He hears the news about the airlock chamber.  He shouts:  "Time to go!" and starts dashing out of the room.  He shouts out:  "Sam, Ser, now or never!  MOVE!"

Seraphim jumped through the door and skidded to a stop next to the console that Derik was next to. She plugged into the console itself.

"Shut up. It will only twist facts. We have to figure it out for ourselves." She scowled as she began to hack into the system directly. "Elly. Deranged voice calling you evil. Tell me before I find out." She growled.

"Facts, twisted or not, are still helpful. The more information, the better, and also, if it's a twisted fact, it's technically a nearly correct falsity, which is ironic and contradictory. It can only be fact or fiction, but at the point in time we're in, even lies are more helpful than nothing." Derik snapped. "This is why I call you people stupid. you would rather have either the truth or nothing at all. Take what you can get, give nothing back, that's the way you survive. If life hands you a poison mushroom, you eat it if need be and then try and find a cure."

"Idiot. I'll shove the mushroom down life's throat and eat his lunch."

She continued her direct hack, attempting to wrest control of Psi from the deranged SA using every tool at her disposal.

"That's the thing: You pick every fight possible, so long as you know you won't get your butt handed to you, even though you will. I pick fights I find beneficiary to the final cause. Survival. Name of this game. And biting the hand that feeds you only makes it worse in the end." Derik scoffed. "Though my real demeanor is different from this, this hacker girl is obnoxious and annoying. She thinks she can take on the hole world and then some. Trust me, honey, you haven't seen what the world can do to you." He thought, waiting for the info to relay.

The door in front of Ferro and Alex opened. On the other side was a huge darkened room. There were computers and consoles everywhere. In the center was a small elevator. A lot of the room could not be seen from where Ferro and Alex were. They would have to step into the darkened area.

"Welcome to the bridge." Daerius said "Step right in."

The door on the far side of the hallway away from the airlock opened up suddenly to Veridyan's group. If they were giong to make it out alive they would have to rush to the other a side so the door could close and seal the toxin before it spread. At that moment, though, the vents all through the hallway began to pout more of the toxin in.

It was time to make it to the door or die trying.

It was no use, Seraphim was locked out of the system for now. She only had enough power to activate the sound playback on all the machines.

At that time the broken airlock door began to grind shut. Just then the rockets on Sam's gear activated and thrust her through the airlock door into th safety of the next room where the rest of the group was. The door closed and the entire airlock compartment disengaged from the station.

And explosion was heard.

"Elaryse- the confident and controlling one. She seems to exert the most forcefulness over the group, but if often the most logical. She shows the qualities for the group's leader but she is quicker to anger than any of the rest.

"Veridyan- the childish and creative one. He has strangely chosen to act and appear very young, he relates with the energy and creativity of children. His plans are often the most outlandish, but oddly they often the most effective. He has a strangely serious side behind his childlike demeanor that has definitive thoughtfulness. He looks to be the ultra-creative one of the group.

"Rytt- the communicative and and clever one. Rytt's wit seems unrivaled in the group, and he normally can forge strong plans from Elaryse's sharp commands and Veridyan's outlandish ideas. He lacks the outright creativity of Veridyan but has enjoyed the various artistic experiences we've supplied him with- he seems to be the most cultured of the group, he's already found favorite quotes from movies and applied tactics from war films to the battle simulator. He has a sharp mind but seems to generally enjoy solitude.

"And finally, Vyrgil. I'm not really sure what to call Vyrgil. He is the most empathetic of them. He is certainly the most quiet. The other 3 have very distinct personalities but I have yet to understand Vyrgil to a good extent. He bonds with certain people well. He and Rytt have come into close communication. He seems to be the member of the group that can best empathize with the ideas of everyone. The thing is that he rarely develops his own plans. The power of the SA models is often their definitive ability and personal drive, but Vyrgil seems driven by a care for other beings along with himself. He's certainly been the most co-operative thus far. I don't yet know exactly what kind of an SA he is yet, though. Will continue on notes. That's all for now."

The hologram shut off.

"Hmm." the voice came back again. "That reminds me- where is Vyrgil? Rytt, Elaryse, Veridyan; all of them are here. Why isn't Vyrgil? He was my favorite student." There was a pause. "I can't beleive he's skipping my lessons! That makes me so angry!!!"

The only remaining door in the room turned green, but at the same time five laser turrets descended from the ceiling panels and targeted each member of the group. In a moment lasers were racing towards all of them.

Elaryse's voice cut through in that moment. "To that door! Now would be an excellent time to continue on!"

Alex gripped his rifle tightly. He didn't trust this at all. This 'Daerius' was the least trustworthy AI Alex had ever come across. Considering the only one's he ever met was Siri and Rytt, Alex couldn't say much.

"Do we go in?" Alex asked, "I don't trust this. Something's gonna happen...and I can tell it won't be good."

"Henko!! Run!" Rin shout.

Rin activated her rockets, grabbing onto Henko's hand, and making them go twice as faster together.

In what seemed as seconds, Henko and Rin reached the door together.

"Hurry up guys!" She called, breaking open the door.

"Of course we go in. We have nothing else to do, and there isn't any way to plan for it except leave a way out. But we don't have to walk there, now do we?" Ferro quickly placed a portal on the wall next to him and one on the floor in front of the elevator. "Watch your step with this. The wall to floor portals can be tricky." With that, Ferro stepped through the portals. It seemed as if he flipped into a standing position near the elevator. He looked down at Alex from the wall.

"Well that was as helpful as a bag of coal. One one diamond in the mix..." Derik thought, the turrets then came down and opened fire. "Oh, well. Not like this was any use anyway..." Derik said, taking the console out of the ground and using it as a shield. "Hey, hacker girl, normally I wouldn't ask for help, but I don't got any other options. Can yu disengage the turrets?" He asked.

(Finally I get something here.)

Rodin said to himself: "So this 'Daerius', the voice we've been hearing,is a teacher to Elaryse and three other SAs huh?  Hm."  He then thought:  Again with the idiot comments!  Ugh, there's no point on getting worked up about it.  Rodin see's the ceiling turrets and thought:  Especially with that happening now.  Rodin adds on:  "That would be pretty nice to do please.  In the meantime...."  Rodin shifts his weapon to blaster mode and fires at the turrets while running to the green door.

"I'm locked out. I need bridge acces." She shifted her scythe to rifle mode and ipened fire.

"Move forward! Let thia guy shield us with the console!" Seraphim stayed behind him, using his shield. "Almost there..."

"Shouldn't your console have a signal jammer? I doubt at the point in time that they built this that they still relied on wires to connect everything, so being able to jam the signal may help us." Derik asked, blocking still and moving forward.

The door opened in front of Veridian's group. Beyond it was a darkened room with a bunch of computers and consoles in it.

It was time to move forward, things were about to get very interesting.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The laser turrets kept firing at Elapse's group, but the door before them opened up, inviting them to escape into the next room- a darkened area with a large amount computers and consoles in it.

It was time to move forward, things were about to get very interesting.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ferro began to walk intonthe next room, the darkened room withnseveral consoles and computers set up in it, the bridge.

Things were about to get very interesting.

Ferro saw doors opening and light spilling in from across the room. Crap, he thought. He whispered a message to Alex through the holo-comm: "We have company. Follow me, stay low, hold your fire." With that, Ferro cancelled his portals and crept slowly into the room, ready to make a move. He hid behind consoles as he went, coming out only to make forward progress towards the elevator in the center. He continually monitored his implant scans so as to get a jump on anybody before they knew he was there. Nobody had entered the room yet. . . but they would come soon.

Alex followed up from the rear, moving as silent as his suit would allow. Considering he usually fumbled about, he was slightly surprised to see the suit seemingly calibrated for that, and made his movements less jarring. The bridge was dark and lifeless; the only lights being the blue glow from the various consoles. "How many?" Alex whispered, "Can you tell?"

Rodin kept firing on the turrets.  He turned around and saw the was door open.  He shouts to the others:  "Hey guys, the door is open!  Let's go before these turrets overwhelm us and the door shuts!"  Rodin walks backward to the door, still blasting at the turrets.

Ferro checked his scan again. One person had backed into the room, but the areas beyond the doors were too far away and remained indistinct. "One right now, but no doubt more will follow." he whispered to his wrist. He crouched behind a console to wait for Alex to catch up. For probably the thousandth time in his life, Ferro thanked himself for having his implant installed. It had proved to be enormously useful in the past, and would continue to be useful. How else was one supposed to see in a dark room, after all?
