The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

Seraphim's attempts were fruitless. The system for the self-destruct system was hardware-based, it was tied directly to a console somewhere under the bridge, probably wherever the elevator led. The timer could not be messed with, neither could the self destruct system- the one thing that could be revealed from accessing the system was that the self destruct system took time to activate. Also Seraphim must have noticed that there 3 other signals besides her own trying to access the same mainframe- the SAs were trying to gain access. But, like Seraphim, they were failing.

The timer ticked down to nothing. The elevator buzzed as the shield went down. The elevator was now open to whoever made it there first as well as their team.

The moment was about to be decided...

Henko rectified himself, blasting himself to Rin's side, leaving rocket's in Rija's face. He grabbed her arm. "You and me." He said, firing more rockets to get them to the elevator.

"I'll stop you. You're no match, and so my job is to do so." He dashed to the elevator, but as soon as he lined up with the boy and girl team, Derik sprang up and tried to knock them out of the air.

Ferro saw the pulse shield go offline, and saw two people make a run for it, a girl and the fisted man. He look for Alex. . . Where was Alex? Oh well, he could get himself to the elevator. Ferro placed a portal down in the middle of the floor and another inside the elevator. "Everybody jump in!" he shouted as he did so himself.

( HELLO EVERYONE!!! I'M ALIVE AND WANTING TO KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED!!)

(Quite a bit happened.  Well, I'm not one to recollect and sum up things, so)

Rodin thinks:  I didn't sign up to be a robo grams' "student".  If anything, there's only one person I consider a teacher, but he's gone.  Rodin wonders on what's going on.  He crosses his arms and thinks:  Great.  Daerius is going to make this place self-destruct and only one group can get into that elevator.  Now people are fighting and racing against each other to the door.  Rodin angrily stabs his sword into the ground, saying to himself:  "I hate not being able to do something to stop this.  Makes me feel helpless, which is the worst."  and runs to the elevator.

Brutality grew and Henko smashed Derik into the ground as he tried to obstruct his and Rin's flight.

"Sorry pal, but it's a fight to the finish!" He landed and pulled Rin with him toward the elevator.

As Derik hit the ground, he handspring back and kicked up, landing top of the enemy he was perusing. "And I'm sorry your bones are likely broken." He said with sarcasm obviously laced within his comment.

Ferro moved towards the elevator as the others were fighting, he found a burst of speed and raced into the open elevator. The electric field engaged.

"Congratulations. See what strength and selfishness brings you? The self destruct system will engage once Ferro and his partner escape on the pod that is below decks, leaving the rest of you in quite a situation. Come on down Ferro and friends, it's time you did what you wanted to do, and meet me in the process."

Red alert lights began to illuminate the bridge. All three doors were now locked. A single huge thick piece of plastic and glass showed the space outside the station. Three huge ships could be seen at a distance, but they seemed too far away to help. The other teams would have to make it out of the station on their own most likely.

Rodin skids to a halt as the electric field turned on.  He looks around to see the red lights on and the doors shut.  He thinks:  So this is happening.  Great.  Rodin turns his head to the dent in where he stabbed the ground.  He completely turns and thinks:  Might be a long shot, but I don't know what else to do.  Rodin quickly runs to the dent he made and just stabs the spot multiple times, hoping to make a hole large enough to jump through.

Ferro stepped through the portal on the ground and stood in the elevator. He watched as the pulse field returned to full force and red lights turned on above closing doors. He cupped his left hand to his mouth. "Alex! Get in here! The rest of you, get in here! Fisted guy, stay out!" Ferro then checked his scan. It would be a tight squeeze in the elevator, perhaps an impossible squeeze. But it should be fine, considering people could use the portal after the elevator descended to access the next floor.

"I'm on my way." Derik sighed, getting off of the man he landed on, he nonchalantly walked into the portal and onto the other side.

Alex looked around and swiftly made his way to the portal. Things had gotten crazy only moments after what might be the last of humanity got a good look at each other, when what Alex presumed to be a homicidal AI made things worse. He stepped into the portal, letting out a sigh as he nodded to Ferro, "Apologies...I had seem to have lost my focusfor a moment."

Rodin stopped for a moment to hear Ferro's  cry (for lack of a better word) to get in the elevator. Rodin shouts to him:  "It doesn't look like enough room in there!"  He thinks:  Plus, even though it shouldn't matter, but I don't being in tight places.  But again, in a life and death situation, who cares?  and says:  "Even if everyone could get in, who knows if we could all get out of the elevator!"

Ferro patted Alex's shoulder. "It doesn't matter right now. What does matter is that we're getting off this station." After hearing the floor-stabbing man's cry (for lack of a better word :)), he yelled back: "The portal will continue to exist after the elevator descends. If you want to, you can wait to step through until then."

(I see what you did there :P )

Rodin thinks:  Portal?  Like the game?  Huh.  He shouts to Ferro:  "Okay.  I'll take your word for it and do that.  But for now, I'm going to let some of the others go and see where what I'm doing goes." With that, Rodin gets back to stabbing the floor as fast as he can.

Seraphim sprinted and slipped through the portal, crashing into someone.

"I'm a hacker. I might be able to help." She held her hands up. "Uh...so...no killing?"

Seraphim was just playing it safe. She squeezed against a wall nevertheless, making as much room as she could.

"Um...Seraphim." she offered.

Ferro turned to the newcomer. Seraphim, huh? Like the angelic creatures. "No, no killing, as long as I have anything to say about it. If anybody tries to do killing, I'll kill them. If that makes sense." Ferro flexed the D-ppendage claw. And I can do it easily, too, he thought.

Rija didn't manage to get into the elevator unfortunately. However, it seemed that there would be a way in through a portal of some sort. Despite the fact that she had almost gotten all of them killed without a way for everybody else to get inside, Rija decided she would go through the portal too. The soldier walked through the portal and found herself in the elevator. "Sorry about causing that scene. Hope you'll still accept me. Rija Mors, Elite Ops. I can do some skull cracking when I need to. Of course, Mr. Steel Coat over here might have that job taken." Rija said, looking over at Derik towards the end. The guy was an enigma, no way to read his face. Henko was just bloodthirsty, but this guy was different.

Seraphim breathed a sigh of relief, lowering her hands. The pink-haired girl huggee herself, wondering how the hell she went from top notch hacker to letting a disembodied voice kick her ass she didn't know.

Hm...

"Elly, hear me? If you can, I need all information on the disembodied bastard you have."

The elevator shot downwards suddenly. It flew by several floors before coming to a stop in a pitch black room. The guards on the side of the elvator lowered, allowing for everyone to get off. A single screen  came alight on the far side of the dark room, illuminating the room; it was almost barren, with a single console right below the screen. It has a single port for wireless data entry.

This was the tether.

Then more lights appeared. The entire room was surrounded by screens. There was a single symbol showing on all of them; a circle  with a strange sort of check-mark going through it. Below each symbol was a single word; ;Genesys'.

"Welceme to my data center, friends." It was Daerius. Suddenly from the left and right sides of the room something moved. "While I admire your efforts, you did not follow my rules. A student who cannot follow rules must be punished. You are hereby expelled."

From the right side came a slim humanoid robot with one arm like a normal human and the other a sort of energy based blade. It shot towards the group and slashed at Ferro at lightning fast speed. From the left a huge huking ten-foot humanoid lumbered toward the group strangely fast. Both of it's arms were spinning drills. It moved in close and struck at Seraphim with one hand and Rija with the other.

A communication suddenly burst in through everyone's wrist consoles. It was the three SAs, all trying to talk at the same time.

"The tether! Get to the tether!"

"Seraphim, hack into the system at the tether console and shut down Daerius' subroutines, from there you can physically destroy him!"

"Watch out, he's got robots!"

"Would you hurry up and shut that bastard down!"

The voices all jumbed together, then Rytt's voice rose above them. "You need to destroy the two robots, disable Daerius, and then use the wrist consoles on you to directly upload me to the tether datanet. I can go from there!"

"No!" Veridyan this time. "Team Veridyan, get to that tether first and upload me into it before Rytt!"

Then Elaryse, "Before either of those idiots get into the system, you need to upload me, understand?"

It looked like there was some challenged in the way right now: The two humanoid robots, shutting down Daerius, and then choosing which SA would be uploaded.

...and what was Genesys?

Seraphim leapt backwards.

"Cover me!" She cried. "I'll take Daerius offline!" She spun her gunscyth up and pulled a Ruby, shooting forward to slash on robot arm, but also used it as a fulcrum to go behind them towards the console. But she thn swiched the sniper mode and shot the back of each robots' leg joints twice after one reload, then turned.

"I am connected to the tether. Connecting to data stream...I'm in. Hacking subroutines now. Give me five minutes to delete this bastard line by line, code by code."

She switched to Elly.

"Elly. You have five minutes to convince me you're the good guy here. Because I'm looking at Rytt as the good guy. He is the only one who has not said ME ME ME. Nor has he called anyone idiots."

She used the tether console to blast into Psi's mainframe.

"Flipside - Rytt could be tricking us and you're more calling them idiots because you have a grudge."

As she continued, Seraphim took a breath.

"Elly. Prove you're not the bad guy."

After several stabs later, Rodin made a hole in the ground.  It wasn't large enough to jump in, but he could see through it.  He looked inside and saw two robots; one human-sized with some kind of blade; the other was large with two drills.  Rodin listened in on Daerius and the three SAs.  Rodin then thinks:  Boy that's a ridiculously extreme ''punishment,' for not following the '' teachers' rules''.  A dunce cap or detention would've been a whole lot better.  Now about the tether circumstance....  Rodin turns to the portal Ferro made, thinks:  I'm sure everyone has gone off the elevator, right?, runs and hops in it.  He makes it in the now empty elevator and dashes forward.  Rodin switches his weapon to blaster mode, shouts:  "Alright, let's get this started!", and starts firing at the drillbot, trying to get its attention.

Ferro acted on instinct more than anything. As the small robot's blade descended, he fired a shot from his D-ppendage, which enveloped the bot in a milky-white glow. The blade suddenly stopped its descent, as if held by something. Ferro made a motion with his D-ppendage, and the small robot flew through the air, only to smash headlong into the larger bot. Metal bent and crumpled. Only after the initial shock of the attack could he think clearly. Ferro decided to let the others deal with the large bot for now and ran over to Seraphim. "After you shut down Daerius, see if you can make the tether into three copies." Ferro wondered what the SAs would do if all of them were untethered. With that, he turned back to the large bot.

Alex loaded his rifle, firing off a long burst at the large humanoid. Ferro, he knew, could take the robot. Someone was already hacking into the datanet, and already another had joined in taking down the large humanoid monster. It seems all the SAs want to be uploaded. I'm guessing for separate reasons...I'm inclined to say Rytt. I at least give him an ounce of trust, versus the others I know little about.
