The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

Rodin skid to halt as he heard Seraphim's cries for help.  He turned and said:  "Hang on, I'm coming!".  He dashed straight to Seraphim, dodging explosions along the way.  He slides next to her and says:  "I'm here Sera!  I'll get you out!"  Rodin puts his weapon under the ceiling piece and switched it to sword mode.  He hade the blade on the ground and raised the piece up.  Rodin carefully pulled Seraphim out under it by her arms.  He then tells her:  "There we go.  Sera, can you get up and run?"

Sera nodded, then started to run awkwardly. "I won't be able to run much after this though!" She called to him, tears streaming down her face. Her ankle and leg hurt badly.

She waited to get to safety to extend gratitude.

"Well, in that case...."  Rodin went to and picked up Sera, told her:  "Hold on tight!", and starts running while carrying her.  He jumps and dodges away as many explosions as he can.  He sprints through the door, barely escaping a large explosion.  Breathing a little heavily, he says:  "Gee, it's never a dull moment huh?"

She clung to Rodin, panting.

"Thank you. Thank you for saving me." She winced. "My ankle hurts like hell...Elly? Can you tell me if my ankle is sprained or not?" She asked. "And Rodin...I want a dull moment right about now."

(Up to you if its sprained or not.)

Henko glared at Derik. There was a feeling int the back of his mind that wanted to finish what they had started. He sighed. The only reason he didn't was because he couldn't remember what started. He dropped a couple of small rockets and Terry's and Rija's feet, giving off small explosions inches away. "Hiya!" Henko said, walking toward the three newcomers. "You all seem familiar. What're you doin here?"

"What we're doing here right now is trying to find me some medicine. But if you want a fight, which those shots seem to indicate you're armed and stupid again, I won't hesitate. Give me till my associate over there is able to locate the cure to the toxin in my system, and I will happy go a round two with you."

Derik did his best to spit at Henko, but his body's numbness made it hard to move, especially with his armor on, so he only succeeded in hitting his boots.

"Ooh. That's not good." Henko said crossing his arms. "Not good at all." He shook the spit of off his boot. "That wasn't very nice you know. Especially for a guy you don't know who's genuinely concerned. I know!" He turned his attention to his communicator. "Hey, Veridyan, can the Genesys help this guy with the toxin problem?"

"You fool, this machine, or at least as its described, is able to generate life. It's like the ultimate mother's womb. Why waste even a single use of it on one person? Besides, the poision's cure is within this area anyway. Why do you think we stopped, rather than starting a confrontation?" Derik was obviously becoming irritated with Heneko. If he had any feel in his face, it would display two times his usual annoyance.

"He is right you know. If we do find to cure to the toxin, then It would be easier." Rin said seriously.

"But you need to be nicer." She snapped, facing Derik.

"He is right you know. If we do find to cure to the toxin, then It would be easier." Rin said seriously."But you need to be nicer." She snapped, facing Derik.

"You want in on this, too, woman?" Derik made the best growl that a paralyzed man could. "Because I've got more than enough for you, too."

Henko sighed. "Wow, you two are really uptight." He said. "Let's just find the antidote and restore humanity, okay?" He looked to Derik. "Watch what you say to her. I'm dog boy for a reason." He cleared his throat and addressed Derik's familiar looking allies. "Any ideas?"

Rin tensed up, stepping behind Henko.

"N–no sir!" She said rather quickly.

She stayed silent as Henko snapped at Derik.

"This is why we didn't want to talk!" Rija yelled over to the other group. She sighed, and began to walk towards the laboratory door. She didn't really want to fight, but Henko would probably start one by accident. Then again, as long as Derik was paralyzed the other group was distracted, giving her more time to get to the door. Rija had her pistol out, and by her side in case worst came to worst.

"My associate over there has the chemical makeup of the toxin, he is looking for a chemical that will turn it into a stable, safe for human body's substance." Derik slightly turned is head to Alex. "Unless you're able to read chemical bonding information at a glance, ittl take you a good ammount of time just to sort through one."

"You, girl. You do know the likelyness of a trap beyond this area, right? It's seventy-two percent. Wanna die? If so, go ahead."

Seraphim squirmed from Rodin's arms and hobbled after Rija, using the wall as a crutch. She stayed silent, merely looking at her fomputer occasionally as she attempted to hack into the mainframe to find out anything.

Then she spoke.

"The more we fight each other, the more likely it is that whoever destroyed humanity will succeed. Ever think that maybe all three SAs are in on it? Or even two out of three? Maybe humanity's last should band together instead of standing around arguing and threatening to kill each other. Maybe if we get our asses in gear...all of us can step through the door with pistol girl and find out who the culprit is without shedding more blood."

She hurried up. "When will the thoughtless violence end?"

When Derik mentioned a trap, Sera grunted. "VERGYL!" She shouted. Screw quietness. "I know you can hear me. If you wanted to kill us, wouldnt we be already dead? I can't be the only one who got your message."

"So now you suspect the robots of being the culprits, rather than think it. Took you long enough. But as a group of people going in to fight, we need quality fighters that know when there outmatched. Dooface over there was about to open a likely dangerous door without checking for traps, and could have killed us all." Derik looked around best he could. "The boy over there is about as smart as a loaf of bread, but he has good instincts for combat at least. You, you have a very dangerous weapon, tech smith. Ferro can kill you with the snap of a finger. I doubt any of you have that very particular set of skills on you as well, do you?" Derik asked rhetoricly.

"Would you just shut your paralyzed mouth for one second?!" Rija yelled at Derik. She was tired of his cynicism and negativity. "First of all, I wasn't going to open the door yet. Second, Dooface is the equivalent of a two-year-old's insult. Third, I trained in the military for the entire second-half of my life, so yes, I can kill you with the snap of my finger." Rija yelled at Derik. She took a deep breath, and turned to Seraphim. "According to your data, is there any trap behind the door?" Rija asked Sera calmly as she could, attempting to ignore Derik to the best of her abiity.

"For goodness sakes, everyone! Stop yelling!" Ferro exclaimed. And just so no one would leave the room, Ferro repositioned his portal onto the door to the central lab. "Nobody is going in there until we get the antidote for Derik and talk this out. And it's in your best interest to keep me alive, considering that that portal won't go away without my telling it to do so. None of you can use this weapon." he said, gesturing to his D-ppendage. "It is coded to my DNA, and if I die, all effects will be locked in place until an anti-rift device is moved into the area. I'm assuming none of you have this device." Ferro gave a wry smile to everybody. He had forced them into an dead end. "Now, we need a table for this discussion." Ferro fired at a clean table, lifted it up remotely, and set it down in the center of the room.

"Would you just shut your paralyzed mouth for one second?!" Rija yelled at Derik. She was tired of his cynicism and negativity. "First of all, I wasn't going to open the door yet. Second, Dooface is the equivalent of a two-year-old's insult. Third, I trained in the military for the entire second-half of my life, so yes, I can kill you with the snap of my finger." Rija asked Sera calmly as she could, attempting to ignore Derik to the best of her abiity.

"Please. Even paralyzed I could outmatch you with wits alone." Derik was annoyed with the idiots of the group. "Also, why do you think I used it as an insult? To make myself sound like an oaf? Hardly. I'm comparing you to that of a two-year-old's worthy insult." Derik's snide tone was very apparent. "Listen. I'm not gonna chance dying, or letting anyone in this room get killed, but only idiots rush for the door, then say they weren't going to open it. Use your head, the likelyness of a trap, weather intended or not, is highly probable.this is a chemical lab. One wrong move and you blow us to smithereens. Rather than just check for traps, ask about the content of the air in the next room over. If it has one atom too many or less of a certain atom, any one of the chemicals in this room would possibly explode. Also, were nearing Genesys, why would it be left unguarded? One wrong step in there will have us all fried like chickens. Consider every possibility of a situation before performing it."

Derik was quite annoyed. "This sucks. I'd rather be talking normally with these people than having to be the ass if the groop, but someone has to be. The jerk is often the one to keep things in perspective..." He thought, the events unfolding. "Now think. Have you incoyntered security yet? I doubt it. And if you have, you were likely close to a part of Genesys from the start. Also, how will you open the door? You lack a keycard, same for all of us, likely. The chance of you being able to pry the door open anyway is slim, and even if you can, what of the repercussions? Blindly acting is what ended us here. I would have much rather searched for an escape pod back to earth and lived out my life a happy man rather than deal with this bull, but when we all met up, rather than try to combine forces, we competed to try and get to Darius. If we want to get out of this alive, but also safely, we must forgo groops and work as a hole. A wall decided dose not stand. We escape to earth, regroup, gain supplies and weapons, as well and new tools, and develop a plan rather than trying to run around for Genysis like a bunch of monkies and following there orders. We have to take down the robots, then we need someone to get their data, then we learn what Genesys is, not before."

Derik was calming down, and sharing his plan, or meathod for doing this. "Or we follow people we can't even physically touch, let alone tell if they are lying to us." Derik disliked the thought of working with the SA's much longer. Rytt was the only one he could stand out of the three, but didn't trust him, either. "I appologize for my aggressive behaviour, but it must be said that we can only all survive if we work with our kind, it gives us a higher probablility of survival, anyway."

(Oh dear.)

(Oh dear.)

(I didn't know that I typed that much. Oh, my. I will at least break.it up when I hit my laptop.)

Most of what Derik had just said had gone in one year and out the other. Not that Henko lacked the thought capacity to comprehend, he was just sick of the bastard. He activated Grace and held against the paralyzed man's forehead. "I've had about enough of you." He growled. "All you've been so far is a pain. Criticizing everyone when you can't do a sorry thing for yourself let alone humanity. Your buddies have 10 seconds before I make things easier on everyone else here."

"A house divided cannot stand. Least get your Lincoln quotes correct." Sera sighed. "My data says this place is a deathtrap. But I got a message from the fourth SA student of Daerius, named Vergyl. He is waiting in the Primary Lab." She started to limp to the table. "D-Appendage dude. Can you lift me and set me down on the table? I think I twisted my ankle." She grimaced. "Anyways. I'm close to hacking the security systems and seeing evrything. So pull up some chairs. Ditch your aggression. Killing each others is just gonna make this tough." She stood still, hoping Ferro could help her out a bit.

"I got more than ten seconds, fool." Derik's leg that was beyong Ferro's body started rocking. " I've still got a tiny movement in my leg, and with it..." Derik,s leg quickly took to the pendulum effect, momentum and kenetic energy, coupled with the weight of his boot caused his leg kick up, throwing Ferro up, as well as his feet, and caused him to flip kick Heneko in the head, and Ferro's boots cauised him to land fine. "And I felt like misquoting Abraham Lincoln. It's less than a house that we are right now, anyway. Were barely a stack of bricks." Derik sighed, keeping his momentum up. "This hurts like a bitch, but it's rather good for keeping me from death by bread-head, in any case."
