Game Freak, the studio behind the upcoming “Pokemon X” and “Pokemon Y,” may be working on another new mainline entry for the franchise. According to a report by Gear Nuke on Oct. 10, the development team has been teasing that players will be returning to the Hoenn region in the future.
The hints were spotted in conversations with non-playable characters from “Pokemon Black,” “Pokemon White,” “Pokemon X” and “Pokemon Y.” One of the characters talked about ruby and sapphire wedding anniversaries while others discussed places that appear to be located in the Hoenn region.
The teaser conversations suggested that Game Freak is planning to release remakes for the third-generation of “Pokemon” video games. “Pokemon Ruby” and “Pokemon Sapphire” were released for the Game Boy Advance in North America on March 19, 2003. “Pokemon Emerald” came out two years later on May 1, 2005. The aforementioned Hoenn region is the setting for all three aforesaid titles.
The first two generations of the “Pokemon” franchise has already been remade in the form of “Pokemon Fire Red,” “Pokemon Leaf Green,” “Pokemon Heart Gold” and “Pokemon Souls Silver.”
