The Xbox 360 and DVD players are the same resolution.

Xbox One finally comes out, has to downscale games to 720p.

So it's how to own an Xbox fanboy.

With resolution???

I'm not defending the Xbox at all but this is trivial stuff really

Yes. Resolution is very important. And while the Wii was only 576p too it at least used Blu-rays.

the original Wii used Bluray??? When???

As for resulotion,as long as the framerate is stable and doesn't drop below 30FPS so it won't become a slideshow....I won't be bothered that much

Yeah, it used special Blu-rays apparently. Wii U uses special Blu-rays too.

No. The Wii used proprietary DVD-like technology, while the Wii U uses a proprietary disc. While not completely Blu-ray, it is based on Blu-ray tech. Evdience http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_optical_disc

Yeah, exactly I like to call them special Blu-rays so people understand it better.

Only the Wii U uses "special Blu-rays". The Wii is more like "special DVDs".

Also, what? DVD players output at maximum 720x576, while Xbox 360 games typically have a native resolution of 720p (check the 3rd post at http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241).

But how? DVDs don't support higher than 576p.

DVD-Video doesn't support anything higher than 576p, true, but that doesn't mean that Xbox 360 games running from a DVD can't support anything higher. It's just a type of storage, it has no impact on the resolution at which games run, the only impact is that they can only store 8.7GB of content instead of 25GB+.

Shut dooowwwnnnn!! DAYYYUMMM!!

The resolution of the Xbox One won't matter if they didn't manage to avoid the red ring of death that happened with the 360

that Red ring alone ruined the launch of the 360 as lots of consoles started to malfunction

I knew you hated the Xbox systems and is a Sony fanboy but holy crap you take fanboyism to a new level. Are you seriously making a thread about something as trivial as this? You're really immature you know that? I mean sure the 360 didn't have blue-ray discs but that's no reason to attack people who actually love the Xbox 360.

wii u uses a proprietary format by panasonic

I swear, the only 2 arguments you ever make are disk format and resolution lol
