A very intriguing question:

• Terra-Xehanort's Heartless (Ansem) and Terra-Xehanort's Nobody (Xemnas) are both vanquished, shouldn't Terra-Xehanort be revived? The elderly Master Xehanort is instead revived. 

Theories?

I'm confused on this, as well, although I've never seen the entirety of DDD. Shouldn't that be the case, though? Yen Sid says that they re-combined to make MX, if I recall correctly, but it'd make more sense to me if Young Xehanort simply went back in time and took him forward into the future. 

 

Also, if Young Xehanort figured out time travel, why didn't MX know the secrets since time-travel shenanigans? 

 

And why didn't Young Xehanort just interfere and kill Terra, Aqua and Ventus alongside his older self to begin with?

 

I'm starting to think time travel was a bad idea in an already muddled plot.

Given how the heart shapes the vessel. It seems Master Xehanort's heart has won the battle against Terra's.

If what Megaman X said is true then Terra heart could be gone, I really don't know how they will bring him back if that is the case.

 

If  not  then maybe MX has terra captured or maybe Terra got revived at the same time as MX and is lost somewhere.  

I think the reason why MX returned instead is because all the scattered pieces of his heart were gathered in one place in one point in time. When the 13 darknesses were NOT united, and the scattered versions of Xehanort returned to their own time, I think Terra-Xehanort was finally able to fully recomplete and he will appear in Radiant Garden.

I think Terra's heart is still there.  It's just completely eclipsed by Xehanort's heart.

When Ansem was controlling Riku, he looked like Ansem despite it being Riku's body.  The appearance change doesn't mean the heart is gone.
