Hey guys, Black Star here. The new Nintendo Direct was released today, and man, was it awesome. I'd go so far as to say it was the best since E3's. Just about every game on there looked interesting, and some were really great looking. Heck, we even got to see a few new games! So, I'm going to tell you all what I think about them! At the end of my little overview, I'll give a number on a scale of 1-10 to show how excited I am for it. Now then, let's go!
Hyrule Warriors- Wii U (2014)
To be honest, I saw this one after the Direct. I was a little late to the stream, so I totally missed out on the first two games. I saw the trailer for this one after, and my jaw dropped. Zelda on the Wii U is awesome already. I've been anticipating this one for a while now. This one wasn't what I was expecting. But... This game looks AMAZING! It looks a lot more action-based, which I don't really mind much. The new attacks look great, and HD really makes Hyrule look great. Also, I noticed that during the trailer, Link never really seemed to like Hyrule or Hyrule Fields. I get the idea that this will be some sort of game where you focus on defending the town and castle from waves of monsters coming in from other areas. I also noticed that there were other warriors there to help Link. I was hoping this meant co-op, but after watching again, it doesn't quite look that way. I think co-op would be a nice touch to the game. Either way, this one looks great! Can't wait until its release! 10/10
Kirby Triple Deluxe- 3DS (2014)
I'm really liking that we're getting another Dreamland-style game so soon after the last one. This one's definitely looking cool, though. We got to see some new powerups, which looked fun. The bell powerup stood out to me for some reason. Suplex also can pick up two enemies, which is a nice feature. The new powered-up inhale move looks like it'll make things a lot more interesting. However, I think the best part about this one was the new gamemodes they featured. The first was a Super Smash Bros-esque minigame that featured different Copy Powers fighting each other. It's supposed to be PvP, and goes up to four players. The stages can have obstacles too, such as Lololo and Lalala pushing Gordos through the stage. This one looked fantastic, and I'm really excited to get to try it out! The next involved hitting buttons along to music, in order to move King DeDeDe along a path of drums. This one looked fun, too! Another game I can't wait for! 9/10
Yoshi's New Island- 3DS (2014)
Yet another game which we've seen before. It doesn't seem to change up the Yoshi's Island formula too much, but that's not exactly a bad thing. The Yoshi's Island games were already fun, after all! I don't really have much to say, since we didn't see too many new features. From what I've managed to notice, the first new feature is the giant eggs, although we saw those back at E3. They still look cool, though. I also noticed Yoshi throw one of those bird enemies (Sorry for not knowing the enemy names, still fairly new to Yoshi's Island). I wonder what that means, exactly? 7/10
Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder- 3DS (2014)
To be honest, I've never played Chibi-Robo! before. I never really heard too much about them, either. This new 3DS version looks fairly interesting though. It reminds me of Pikmin with the item collection. I'm not entirely sure what to say about this one, though. 6/10
Pokemon Bank and Poke-Transfer- 3DS (2013)
I've been waiting a long time for this one. I've been waiting ages to transfer my Pokemon from White 2 over to my Y Version, so I'm definitely excited. This new Direct didn't really show any new features. It did show an event for Celebi that coincides with Pokemon Bank though, so that's pretty cool. I've already got one in Gen IV, but hey, I'll take a new one too. 10/10
Bravely Default- 3DS (US-2014)
Before anyone asks, this part was exclusive to the North American Direct, since we haven't gotten the game yet out here. Anyway, I've been very excited for this. As someone who feels like Final Fantasy took a huge fall when it got to more modern titles, I'm excited to see a throwback to the old NES titles. The main thing about this Direct trailer that caught my attention was the demo that's being released next month. I really like the sound of a demo that's an entirely new sidestory that isn't part of the main game. A demo with a lot of substance that transfers over to the main game is really cool! 9/10
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze- Wii U (2014)
To be perfectly honest, I've never played a Donkey Kong Country game, aside from a demo of Returns. However, they've always looked like a blast. This trailer showed off Cranky Kong in all his playable glory, which was really cool to see. It also showed that Donkey Kong and his partner have the ability to turn enemies into items under certain conditions, which looked really cool. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this game! 8/10
Sonic Lost World DLC- Wii U? (2014)
In all honesty, I'm not a Sonic fan, so I didn't care much for this segment. The DLC looked a little strange to me personally; a Yoshi's Island-themed world. It looked like it slowed the pace of Sonic, which is meant to be a speed-based game. It just seemed really strange to me, I guess. 0/10
Wii Sports Club Golf- Wii U (2013)
I'm not really too interested in this one, either. I never played Golf in Wii Sports, so this doesn't seem too interesting to me, honestly. The whole Gamepad feature which shows the golf ball was kinda cool, and I guess would help aiming. 0/10
NES Remix- Wii U (2013)
Ah, what a surprise. It took me a while to notice that Link was in Donkey Kong, when I saw this. This game looks really interesting; it seems like WarioWare with NES games, and longer time limits. The alterations to the various NES games represented all look really cool. I'm definitely looking forward to getting this one! 9/10
Dr. Luigi- Wii U (2013)
Well... This was unexpected. It seems like a strange way to end off the Year of Luigi (Even though they're supposedly going on into January). A reskin of Dr. Mario featuring Luigi doesn't really seem like a normal way to end off the green-capped sidekick's year of fame. While I appreciate Dr. Mario, I'm not a big fan of it myself. This looks interesting, but I don't think I'll be buying it, sadly. 4/10
Super Smash Bros- 3DS/Wii U (2014)
The hype meter was off the charts with this one, folks. At first I was thinking it was a Kirby game (I missed Triple Deluxe when I watched the stream, so I didn't know it hadn't been shown yet). Then, I thought Mario Kart 8 with Kirby as a playable character. Then, when Rosalina came in and got the iconic Smash Bros screen, I was even more excited. I've been predicting her for a while now, and seeing that I was corrent is pretty cool. She seems like an interesting character, and I'm glad to see that we're finally getting to see a newcomer! 20/1010/10
Mario Kart 8- Wii U (2014)
Keeping up with the awesome Smash Bros trailer, we got a nice Mario Kart 8 trailer too. Once again, we got to see how insanely beautiful this game looks on the Wii U. The stages that were shown looked awesome, and we got to see Baby Daisy; who, if I'm not mistaken, is a new character. Besides, it's Mario Kart. Who doesn't love Mario Kart? 10/10
Well, that's it for this Direct! Let me know if you guys want more of these for each Direct!
