In gaming, pretty much anything that isn't an indie developer has had a extreme lack of creativity and now gaming seems to just be centered around new gimmicks in the gameplay. Developers don't know how to make something brand new and innovative happen in the market anymore. Most, if not all ideas have been used up by this point and no brand new genre can be invented, or not much can be added to a genre. What has made gaming different from a movie all this time has been the fact that the only new thing that happens in movies is picture quality. In Gaming something new was always happening, and there was a new feature or innovation to always make you say wow. The industry has also been making itself worse. It added great new things like backwards compatibility or online play. Then with newer consoles they took backwards compatibility away, and forced you to pay for online or have an online pass. And instead of bringing a game home with excitement, not knowing what you're going to expect, you've either seen enough trailers to know exactly what you're going to play, or the console or the game requires an update. I've said hardware doesn't matter in the past, well it used to. Going from donkey kong country to donkey kong 64 you would just be amazed at the leap in power of the consoles. now you can look at a game between the ps3 and ps4 and you would just say meh. all im trying to say is that gaming isn't particularly fun anymore.
