After completing the fight against the Elite Four for a second time, will there be a repeat of the fight against AZ the yeti?

no the ending is a 1 time thing

Thank you.

Does anyone else think that Talonflame is almost too similar to its real-world counterpart, in comparison to the other "starter birds"?

I'm not sure if that's a criticism or a observation.....

It is more of an observation. I do not dislike its design, but it is not as creative as that of the other "starter birds"; Pidgeot looks like a cross between an osprey and a thrush, Noctowl is obviously an owl (but does not have a strong resemblance to any existing kind of owl), Swellow looks like a cross between a swallow and a skylark, Staraptor looks like a cross between a harpy eagle, a starling and a pigeon, and Unfezant looks like a cross between a secretarybird and a pheasant. Talonflame, however, looks almost exactly like a real sparrowhawk, except for its colouring and crest.

Since many pokes take real world interpretation I suppose they're bound to reflect TOO much into the real world incarnation (big words heh) I'm more of a fletchhinder guy in the first place, but I say hoothoot and swellow are more "realistic". It may be the fire sub type that helps talonflame I'll admit (still my fav starter bid)

I am also somewhat disappointed with its name. Pokémon names tend to be a witty combination of two words that relate to the Pokémon in some way, but in the case of Talonflame, its name is literally two words fused into one.

You telling me this doesn`t look like a pigeon? (Or whatever it's supposed to be)

I'm kidding I know what you mean.

Imo Unfezant may be a bit unique, but look at pidove...

Its exactly a pigeon.

I should know, I live in NYC (where they based these pigeons from) and they look exactly the same as the grown ups!

Pidgey looks exactly the same as a baby pigeon.

It looks more like a sparrow crossed with a thrush to me.

Well,the Talonflame line is my favorite

they're the only flying starter in the wild that are extremely useful(alongside Staraptor)

The previous ones from Gen 3 and below where mostly used for Fly and nothing else

That is not true. Plenty of people used Pidgeot and Swellow for battles in their respective generations.

Swellow maybe

But Pidgeot won't last that long once you got the Aerodactyl fossil and revive it or teach Charizard fly

Unfezant is pretty much the same situation as pidgeot....it's good until you find a flying type that won't get OHKO in one hit by Blizzard or Thunderbolt

Staraptor on the other hand can learn a variety of moves like Close Combat which can provide excellent coverage against Rock and Steel types

Talonflame is as useful as a Charizard if not a little bit more..it can learn Brave Bird and other moves that can provide a good type coverage

I have used a Pidgeot in my X version, and it has done just fine. Aerodactyl is overrated, is weak to Rock-Type moves, and cannot even be taught Rock Slide. Charizard is extremely weak to Rock-Type moves, while Pidgeot does not have any extreme weaknesses.

I have used an Unfezant as well, and it was definitely not as weak as that.

Staraptor does not receive a same-type-attack-bonus for Close Combat, and using the move is extremely risky.

Talonflame is also extremely weak to Rock-Type moves, unlike the other "starter birds". Staraptor, as well as several other bird-based Pokémon, can learn Brave Bird as well, so Talonflame is nothing special. Talonflame also cannot learn any particularly useful Fire-Type moves via Level-Up.

I hope you both know that you can like a Pokémon even if it isn't good competitively.

Well,it depends on how we use them at the end of the day.

Aerodactyl is fast enough to be an excellent attacker especially if you gave him Earthquake or Rock Slide....not to mention that he has a Mega evolution

I will admit that Pidgeot was useful throughout my playthrough of Gen 1 games and Pokemon Stadium 1.....it's just becomes less useful as more flying types started to appear

I used Pidove for flying because I already had an Emolga that despite not having fly....it can be very useful with moves like Acrobatics and volt switch.....my Emolga kicked ass ^_^

I hope you both know that you can like a Pokémon even if it isn't good competitively.

I know as I love Raichu even though it's not that good competitively

speaking of which.....GameFreak....MEGA RAICHU RIGHT NOW!!!!!

STAHP!

Pidgeot is sadly outclassed by Staraptor, TalonFlame, even Swellow. Unfezant also sadly is in Pidgeot's situation. I say sadly because their designs are good, but that's all I'd use them for. (Maybe HM slaves, but there's better candidates such as Pelipper, Swanna, etc)

Before any abilities, stats, movepool, I thought Talonflame would be even worse than Charizard, when they announced it's mega evos. Then came the following:

Gale Wings

BraveBird

Flare Bltiz

Gale Wings

Swords Dance

Roost

Gale Wings

Acrobatics

Did I mention Gale Wings? This bird wrecks in-game and competitively. Great design as well.

Well,it depends on how we use them at the end of the day.

So, you are taking virtually nothing of what I said into consideration?

You forgot about what makes him the best

Gale Wings.

And Flame Body for the eggs of course!

I said before that its design is nowhere near as creative as that of the other birds in question. It looks like a sparrowhawk that was painted red and given a crest.

Pidgeot can learn Hurricane.

So, you are taking virtually nothing of what I said into consideration?

What I meant to say,you may find something that I think useless to be useful....I'm not angry or bashing this time around

I found many people especially in Nuzlockes who can make a useless Pokemon into a Power house even without over leveling..

It's just I myself prefer Talonflame in terms of how I play....sure it's 4x weaker to rock just like Charizard but that's what the focus sash is for once you find one

Everyone has their own opinion.

In my opinion, Talonflame is a great Pokémon. He has a great design for someone who is just a regional bird, an amazing movepool, stats, and abilities. The only thing I find not so great is his name, they could've easily named it Fletchurn, Fletchame, Fletchiery, or Fletchoal

Fletchurn = Fletch + Burn

Fletchame = Fletch + Flame

Fletchiery = Fletch + Fiery

Fletchoal = Fletch + Coal

The Focus Sash is virtually useless outside of online battles, and even then, Talonflame does not have any good moves that it can use against a Rock-Type.

Then you switch out. Have you not heard that you can use 6 Pokémon?

And it can. It's called Steel Wing.

Same can be said about Pidove, except it's literally the same thing as a pigeons with no extra design. Same can be said about other Pokemon that aren't birds.

Talonflame has Gale Wings.
