Sly Cooper Movie to be Released in 2016

I think you got the Jak and Daxter part wrong. It's ND's biggest most popular franchise. They haven't done anything with it because it apparently requires a reboot in which case they feel will let down fans, so the series is honestly over. You can't put the franchise in anyone elses hands and expect something good to come out of like they did with Sly Cooper.

They're wrong, though. Because it doesn't. 'Requires'. Pfeh. Just make a sequel set after Jak X. It's not that hard.

I wish I knew their reason behind a reboot though. It must be something big if they feel that it needs to be rebooted.

Most of the people who worked on Jak and Daxter don't work for Naughty Dog anymore, so the people in charge think that they should just change the whole style to fit their new 'WE MAKE GAMES FOR ADULTS, NOW' shtick. I don't think they can handle toning down their series, now. Jak II pushed the bar, but it wasn't a game solely for adults, but kids in their mid to late teens.

It's more so that they needed a new franchise at the time, which brought about The Last of Us, which is now their mature audience franchise while Uncharted reaches everyone, and if they wanted to, which they really dun unfortunately, they could actually make another Jak for their usual audience. It's mostly because the two Bandicoot creators who started ND happened to both be the major minds behind Jak as well, however, both had been at the job since the age of 16, so they retired from ND and went their ways. One's a really great author now.

The cast is not set in stone. Due to the negative response to Sly's VA in the trailer, the facebook page has commented on it saying:

Please know, the cast of the Sly Cooper movie has not been finalized. Though we are fans of Kevin Miller's work, as well as all those who were part of the great Sly Cooper games, we cannot comment on who will be in the film at this time. We greatly appreciate everyone's comments and support for Sly Cooper, and will make sure to keep this all in mind as we enter production.

Nice to know that we could be getting Sly's old VA back. I would be able to deal with a new one, but it'd be even better with the one from the games.

Oh God, I hope not. If this movie is the sequel to Sly 4, I'm gonna storm Sanzaru Games and choke the life out of every developer there. As a standalone, it doesn't make my blood boil, but if it's not...OOOOOH IF IT'S NOT.

The movie is an origins to the sly cooper series.

Now come on, that's just bull cr*p right there and you know it^_^ Sly got a 4th game years later after 3, even though it doesn't technially read "4". Besides, Naughty Dog haven't even touched the whole plot about Mar, the anchestor of, well, everyone, so don't come and tell me that the series is "honestly over" when there's SO much more potential! Also, they WERE gonna make a new game, but the Last of Us had to come and take it's place with it's fat f***ing butt!!

You know, on the other hand, no Jak game has ever surpassed "the Precursor Legacy" anyway, so fine, leave the series be for all I care^_^

Sly Cooper had no love for quite a while after the third game was made. It wasn't until the HD Collection was released years later that the game slowly gained more love. Heck, I thought it was still considered to not be very popular. I guess that the fact that they're making a movie means otherwise.

True, but at least the series GOT some much longed-for love, but what has Jak and Daxter got? Apart from a sh*tty excuse for a game in 2009?

They tried, they didn't like it, thought we'd hate it, moved on to The Last of Us. It's a process they took. I said that in the terms that Naughty Dog tried, but can't work with it like they used to so nothing's happening for who knows how long. The series is basically over under that concept. Sly 4 was under another developer other than Sucker Punch which is the only reason it ever happened.
