At least he was willing to help her with her homework

I don't know how I feel about it. Like, yeah, how the firetruck is that an appropriate question for a high school setting way to go with the wording on that guys good job. But, on the other hand, it seems like it would be a trick question because a Type O mother cannot possibly have a Type AB child biologically so that would imply something kinda worse than her just sleeping around.

I should note pay attention to the quiz problem that stirred the controversy particularly the blood types.

You win a cookie because that's exactly what I was getting at. There are several underlying issues here minus the one the article and the parent was trying to make it into. I laughed because while making a huge stink about one issue they neglected their own mistakes xD

I wonder if it's possible that it WAS MEANT to be a trick question . Otherwise it's sad that the teacher didn't know this yet was teaching this subject. Regardless the question was extremely inappropriate imho

Fool. I don't see a problem. The assignment was presenting a scenario, not pushing an opinion.

Grant you the question itself was out of place for the highschool setting I would be more concerned why the student is not paying attention in class or why the teacher who is presenting the material did not recognize the trick question.

Fool. In high school, we learn about Sex ed and the dangers of not being responsible of related subjects. If anything, this question can educate a student further about a subject they already take in high school.

True most parents would feel differently though lol.

Fool. Nah man. You can't agree. That just ends the discussion.

How is it a "trick question"? It's just simple genetics...

If this hypothetical situation is teaching kids anything it's that hospitals can mix up people's babies... As a parent, wouldn't you want your true child, not someone else's?

Fool. I agree. Let's keep it going.

I disagree let's not :{P

The right answer is "the baby wasn't the child of the mother". Not a trick at all. The question isn't asking who the dad is, just why the baby was taken away, and that's because the child she was looking after wasn't her baby.

or it's possible there was a lab mix-up or error. It happens :P

I understand what the right answer is that was my whole point from the beggining. But the way they formatted the question was misleading which left the student trying to figure out which choice was right. I suppose trick question is not the right phrase but my point was the connotation that the parent and the article implied was not there lol.

When you read the article it implies that they were also trying to determine the father so you can see where one would get that the list does not properly list one :

"So you walk over, glance at the worksheet on DNA and blood type, and notice questions about a mother trying to determine the identity of her baby’s father.

Then question reads in part: “She had the state take a blood test of potential fathers. Based on the information in this table, why was the baby taken away by the state after the test?”

Possible answers? Cab driver, bartender, flight attendant, and guy at the club."

The "possible answers" part wasn't in the original question (it wasn't multichoice). I think this is just an example of a slow daughter and a father making a big deal over nothing. And the news media acting like the news media always does, sensationalising something and creating a story where there is none.

The mother trying to find the babies father was just setting up the situation and wasn't in any way relevant to the question.

This part of the article implied that there were more than one question ( as in plural questions) that were being asked meaning they were also trying to determine the father in one of those questions

On topic ,  although i feel it was inappropriate, I do recognize some valid points made in this thread as well where others would feel it wasn't .

This was the entire point of me posting this article was because the issues don't lie where the article implies they do. Anyone who pays attention could see that that was the case.
