So,let me get this straight....(LRFFXIII Spoilers)

Posted

It was stated in LRFFXIII that the game takes place 500 years after the event of XIII-2  after Caius killed Etro and destroyed the entire timeline continium and that Snow,Hope and Noel spent over 200 years before the savior(a.k.a Lightning) came.....uh...um...oh....WHAT!!!??

I'm sorry, but Caius destroyed all freakin time how does time even flow at this point and how did they exactly measured time when time is completely destroyed

The only place where time doesn't flow is the Realm of Valhalla....but it's nowhere to be seen in this game...why??

I'm in the Wildlands now with the white chocobo and while there are places that has some reminiscent to Valhalla,it still not Valhalla as it's clearly called the Wildlands

Sure Etro died but Valhalla itself remained intact when Gran Pulse was engulfed in Chaos

in fact, how does Nova Chrysalia even exist at this point when the entire planet of Gran Pulse no longer has any timeline or any remains at this point???

The only time going in this game is the 13 days time limit that Bhunivelze gave to Lightning to save everyone before he decides to go kaboom on it

Shouldn't the game take place in Valhalla as it's the only place in existence according the XIII series mythology where time doesn't flow like in the world of Gran Pulse??

Look, before you say something,I've read the datalog of the previous two games when I played them for hours and I fully understand the story of XIII and XIII-2......and I still don't understand WTF is happening in LRFFXIII and how all of this is taking place after Caius's action

I still haven't finished the game yet as I'm currently riding on the White Chocobo to gather some medicines for it,but this story is already shitting on what the first two games in the XIII trilogy established

Oh,and to Snow:Sure, your love Serah will be so happy when you find here and she found out that you MURDERED HER SISTER THAT SHE ASKED YOU TO FIND AND PROTECT IN XIII-2....sure Serah will be so happy to find that her fiance killed her sister...BRILLIANT SNOW,THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SERAH WANTED

Even so, the problems that Metal Snake has with the plot is that it's disregarding it's own rules that it laid out to construct this fantasy. It still has to make logical sense within the confines of the story's world.

Well first off, sure time is f*cked up now, but the sun still rises and sets and so does the moon. People can still move around. It doesn't make sense at first glance, so i'll explain what TRULY happened.

First off, if time REALLY had crashed, EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE WOULD BE FROZEN IN TIME FOR ETERNITY AND WE'D HAVE NO STORY. The only real thing the chaos did was merge Valhalla(a place where time does not flow) and Gran Pulse, which f*cked up the some of the logic. This being, causing babies being unable to be born

which i honestly do not get, how can it stop someone's sperm from fertilizing an egg if people can still move around? This part i admit does not make sense, it was only put to make sure the population didnt die from starvation of there being not enough food to feed everyone and people not dying normally

, and people have stopped aging and dying from old age.

The whole reason Caius did this in the first place was TO KILL ETRO so Yeul would stop being reincarnated. It just so happpened that doing that would cause the Chaos to flow into the world and destroy some of the natural physics in the process, they were tied together so he couldn't have done one without the other. But Caius wanted to save Yeul so bad that he didn't give a damn and was willing to destroy the world. Also, since the moon and sun still rotate around the world, they can measure time the same way they could before the time crash so thats how they know how long its been since XIII-2's ending. Does that clear things up for you?

The reason the realm of valhalla is not seen in this game IS BECAUSE THE CHAOS FLOWING INTO GRAN PULSE MERGED GRAN PULSE AND VALHALLA TOGETHER. THE AFTERLIFE MERGED WITH THE WORLD OF THE LIVING, WHICH SCREWED UP EVERYTHING. This is the reason that the temple of Etro is in the Wildlands. Also, the wildlands is hinted to be where Academia from XIII-2 was before the timeskip.

Also, Snow at first seems like he's trying to kill Lightning, but the end of the story quest for Yusnaan reveals the reason he did this.

He wasn't trying to kill Lightning for real(He knew that she could survive all the guards trying to kill her and everything he threw at her). He was trying to PROVOKE HER INTO KILLING HIM. He was guilty that he couldn't save Serah OR stop the world from turning to shit from the chaos so since he couldn't uphold his promise to protect Serah, he felt that Lightning deserved the chance to kill him for revenge. He was just really driven insane from the guilt and everything that happened, but the shitty events that occured before that would drive anyone insane honestly. :

I hope this clears up everything for you Metal, some of the stuff wasn't explained well, so i could see why you thought that, but it DOES MAKE SENSE. Its just it can easily confuse people.

I know that Caius killed Etro to stop Yeuls incarnation

Anywan,thanks for explaining to me

Problem is,the game does a very poor job explaining what's going on even if you read the datalog the game has and that's a major flaw in story telling

In XIII-2 I understood the story easily the more I progressed through the story and read the game's datalog

Here however every time I progress through the game nothing makes sense in relation to the events of the previous games especially Noel's action

I know Noel is looking for Yeul and all,but did he also forgot about Serah? She literally died on his arms, yet after all what happened he barely remembers her even when Lightning mentioned her

Anyway,I'm almost done with Fang's quest in the Dead Dunes....where can I find Sazh and possibly Cid Raines?

Just finish the game buddy and u will see :)

Sazh is in the north-east part of The Widlands. That other character comes later in the game in a cutscene only.

Yeah, i know what you mean. The reason i know most of that stuff and that you didn't is because i read most of the interviews that explained most of this stuff, since i was on edge waiting for LR. : They really did a poor job explaining all of this, its like they expect you to know it before you play. Imagine if someone just played LR and not XIII and XIII-2 before it, it would make no sense at all.

I know, IDK what happened with Noel and Serah. I thought he'd feel SOME guilt about serah, but instead its ALL YEUL. I know he loves her, but WHAT ABOUT SERAH. I think he tried to force her out of his mind as just an accomplice to the "Ultimate sin" that they commited. Although, there is another FF XIII book coming out(there were 2 for XIII-2, fragments beyond and antoher one) that told more of the untold stories and gaps from XIII-2, such as what happened to snow. This next one thats coming out tells what happened in the 500 year gap since XIII-2's ending and what exactly Noel, Snow and Hope teamed up to do.

Sazh is where 96 said, near the research camp of the wildlands. Get ready to run all over the continents to complete the quest. :

Also, I dont think you can find Cid in the world, i think you only see him when you leave or return to the ark in a cutscene. I dont know for sure tho, im only on day 9, im just doing 20 more sidequests(got 42) and then im going to fight Aeronite, grind for soul seeds and last ones and then just do the ult. dungeon and beat the game.

Why not tell those untold stories in the freaking game(regardless of how long those flashbacks would be)instead of being in an Ultimania book

This is Final Fantasy 8 all over again, you need the Ultimania book to have the plot make any amount of sense

I didn't read all the interviews but I played XIII for 60 hours and I played XIII-2 for 80 hours and that's counting dialogues and sidequests post-game

So at the very least I expected them to be loyal to the previous two adventures I've been through, but mostly they didn't

And I'm STILL not buying the fact that Noel simply forgot about Serah like poof she didn't exist.

Sure he loves Yeul, but let me remind you that he's the one who DRAGGED SERAH THROUGH THE TIMELINE TO FIX PARADOXES AND STOP CAIUS!!!And he just simply forgot about her as if he never met or even cared about her??And I hate how the fight with him was pointless as all it took him to understand is just break the Oracle Drive, sure the vision of you killing a woman(not just any woman, the FREAKIN SAVIOR) to make the world better is SUPER DUPER LEGIT NOEL...God this is dumb.

Oh one last thing,Yeul said that they're the cause of the Chaos and the time distortion that affected the world and that she and her incarnations started it....Umm didn't the Chaos started to flow when Etro created a time paradox when she freed the L'cie gang of the first game from their crystal statis ??According to Caius Cocoon was supposed to fall and the L'cie should've never been freed from the crystal status and that Etro created a time paradox by freeing them???

Are we just supposed to forget what Caius said to Serah in XIII-2??

Plot makes sense ONCE YOU COMPLETE IT.

I hope it does because so far nothing makes sense in this plot in relation to the previous two games

And even if it did in the end that still won't make up for the fact that Lightning's personality in this game is that of a cardboard box compared to her in XIII

I'm on the 6th day and I'm currently completing Fang's quest in the Dead Dunes, which is so far the best part of the game

Edited by Metal Snake

I said that, and you haven't even played.

Yeah well I've seen more than enough to know what is going on.

Ahem hello???

I didn't compare this plot to the real world

There are rules that a writer must follow in storytelling, and this game barely followed any of that

The plot makes no sense regarding the events that took place in XIII and XIII-2 and completely shits on what the previous two games have established

It disregards every single rule that has been established in the previous two games and act as if they barely happened

All the mythologies established in the previous two games are barely existent here

Edited by Metal Snake

I thought it was plainly written that time hadn't stopped in terms of day and night, but in terms of aging. The time you have left on Earth is limited, but for the people of Nova Chrysalia they have infinte time as living beings, not being capable of aging. Falling prey to monsters and ilness were their only way out. 500 years have passed since the death of Etro and Chaos poured into the world. No one aged, no one was born, they all lived everyday waiting Centuries for the end to come.

Ok I think I didn't explain my point in a better way

But I'll be able to do that once I finish the whole game hopefully....even though I doubt that
