Nintendo Shutting Down Online Services for Wii and DS Games

Featured Replies

About time considering they're discontinued in most countries.

I better tell my family, they depend on the Wii for Netflix

they stated that Wii will continue to use Netflix, so you're fine Crona.

Noooooooo it can't be true?!

(faints)

well this kind of sucks.

It will suck, no more pokemon trading. Meaning, we have to buy the opposite games, plus pokemon colosseum, and a gamecube.

Well, there's always the GTS in X/Y. But still, it DOES suck that we can't trade in the older games anymore. Thankfully, I have a Gamecube. I just need to track down Colosseum...

Apparently I don't got one, so I'm F*****.

Hey, doesn't HG/SS have all the 2nd gen pokemon?

I really have to buy some more Wii games before it gets discontinue in the U.S (I am assuming late 2014)

But Smash Bros Brawl ;~;

Well, this is a bummer and all, but it had to happen sooner or later, right? After all, it takes money to keep these online services going, so if they aren't getting enough money to make things worthwhile, it's time for those services to go away.

But Smash Bros Brawl ;~;

But Smash Bros 4

But Smash Bros 4

that's after it comes out they should keep it online until the next Super Smash game comes out.

...It'll still work for Netflix bro.

Oh, damn. True. I didn't read the article so I have no idea when they're actually shutting it down.

But SSB4 comes out this year so a few months of not being able to play SSBB isn't going to kill anybody. It was horrendously laggy and boring by now 4+ years later anyways.

But Smash Bros 4

But no money

1 paycheck - done

It didn't state so in the list that the site gave... Not that I saw anyway.

Getting a Job isn't that easy, especially for those who don't have any past experience to show for themselves or real exp in getting a job. I wanna get one but I have no idea how to start.

I can help with that.

Unfortunately, in my experience, I found that you're mainly going to have to apply to the extremely busy fast-food restaurants in your area, and you're almost guaranteed a job, because some places are so busy that they are desperate for help. My first job hired me on the spot because of that, and any other place I applied to probably didn't even consider me.

It sucks ASS to cook for hundreds of millions of people a day, but hey...It's dough. And work experience.

Nintendo shuts down online services for ancient hardware. People of all a sudden need jobs.

I honestly believe taking away online services from older generations is a good pull in for newer generation consoles. Just about everyone does it. Hell, I'll bet online services on PS3 and 360, will be discontinued in the next two years.

LOL. Some of the PlayStation Portable models still have online services. PlayStation 3 still has support ensured until the end of 2016 at least.

Only some, but not many play it still. Like I said, within the next two years, as that's when their support may end. They'll pull away support quick and try to suck you in for their newest product. They have to ensure that they'll get money one way or another.

Doesn't mean they'll stop access to the PlayStation Store. If they did it would make half of the PlayStation Store a waste of time since the PlayStation 3 games cannot be played on any other console.
