Nintendo Shutting Down Online Services for Wii and DS Games

Featured Replies

It will suck, no more pokemon trading. Meaning, we have to buy the opposite games, plus pokemon colosseum, and a gamecube.

Not really, just transfer them into X&Y because everybody is doing that now

But no money

if you mean you don't have money, will save your money

if you mean them losing money from shutting down the Wii

What money??

They lose money when they keep the servers of the Wii up as they've already discontinued the thing for a while

And they need to focus more on the new servers if you want an online that's better than Brawl's laggy online

Guys you don't need to overexaggerate everything that happen

it's natural for companies to shut down servers of old games and hardware

What does getting a job have to do with Wii and DS??

They obviously want to focus on the stability of the Wii U and 3DS online services which is their top priority at this

Also, they said that the Wii shop channel and the DSi shop will continue so you still can download games from them

Doesn't mean they'll stop access to the PlayStation Store. If they did it would make half of the PlayStation Store a waste of time since the PlayStation 3 games cannot be played on any other console.

Well of course they'll keep that up, but most other services will be taken down.

You mean like online games? Well of course, they already have. EA Sports will take down their 2012 servers this year.

That's on EA's behalf though.

Still shows at least one of the major international gaming companies are already doing it, which is good. No point keeping useless online servers up.

Well so much for hack checks on 4th-5th gen games. Ouch... But on the other hand I don't trade anymore, so screw any future attempting scams.

Getting a Job isn't that easy, especially for those who don't have any past experience to show for themselves or real exp in getting a job. I wanna get one but I have no idea how to start.

U could always work at a grocery store. That's where a lot of young folks begin work.

Well. I saw this coming. It's too bad.

U could always work at a grocery store. That's where a lot of young folks begin work.

I can help with that. Unfortunately, in my experience, I found that you're mainly going to have to apply to the extremely busy fast-food restaurants in your area, and you're almost guaranteed a job, because some places are so busy that they are desperate for help. My first job hired me on the spot because of that, and any other place I applied to probably didn't even consider me. It sucks ASS to cook for hundreds of millions of people a day, but hey...It's dough. And work experience.

I already looked into it, I live in one of the less busy parts of town, they almost never have a need for people at all.Anyway @topic: its a sad thing. I don't get why they would do this, but oh, well.

Because it doesn't make sense to keep using old servers when not many people use them.

They should at least have the service on BW1/2. There's still people that use it's online service. (2 isn't even old >_>) I suppose Ninty has another reason not to leave any online support to previous instalments; Pokebank. Hear that GF? Maybe it is the time to release remakes.

Looking at a bigger picture, I need to play old games before I say RIP. Brawl, Starforce, etc. I'm going to miss the latter because at least SSB4 is out later this year.

Apparently I don't got one, so I'm F*****.

Hey, doesn't HG/SS have all the 2nd gen pokemon?

Yeah, it does. It also has Latios, Latias, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, so it has a majority of the Hoenn legendaries. Still, for the Hoenn dex, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald are probably required. X/Y seems to have most of them, but I don't think it has all.

I guess we just gonna have to forget about completing pokedexs for gen 4 and 5 in real time and just run an emulated version if we still have the need to get all pokemon.

The only pokedex we should focus on is X/Y. If RSE remake is in works, which I believe is, we may get a fix to our problems.

Well, we'll still be able to transfer Pokemon from Gens IV and V up to VI, and III up to IV. We just won't be able to get them through trading anymore. But yeah, it's times like these when a Gen III remake would be really nice.
