PS4 Sold Out Almost Everywhere Again in Japan

Posted

With the beginning of March Sony is halting shipments of the “First Limited Pack” of the PS4 in Japan, moving from the bundle with Knack to the standard boxes without the game, and looks like almost all the units that were pushed into the market so far have now found a loving home.

Amazon Japan, Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera, Rakuten, Edion, Sofmap and every other retailer we checked has the console out of stock, and Yodobashi Camera also shows no stock in all its 21 stores across the country (which received further shipments on February 26th and 27th), as you can see in the picture at the bottom of this post. A new shipment is expected by the 5th.

In the meanwhile Shunichi Kobayashi, director of the video game department of Akihabara-based retailer Trader mentioned to Mainichi Shinbun Digital that he doesn’t know when further shipments will come, advising customers to grab the console when they find one:

We’re not in a situation where you can buy it everywhere already, and I don’t know when it’ll be in stock. If you absolutely want it, I recommend that you buy it when you find one.

Despite all the doom and gloom we saw from some sources, looks like PS4 has definitely been selling over the past week. It’ll be interesting to see the Media Create hardware charts this Wednesday to get a clear picture on what kind of momentum the console is retaining compared to its initial sales in the archipelago of the rising sun.

Thanks to DualShockers.

We gonna have a party at E3!

IGN did make a report that PS4's were going to be hard to find in the coming months. I don't think anyone ever expected it to sell so well!

The PS4 is the next PS2.  Good God I'm so proud of you Sony, you've definitely outdone yourselves!  And just wait until Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 come out!  *chuckles mischievously.*  The PS4 sales will skyrocket to the heavens! :D

Don't celebrate so fast, the PS4 could be having two good weeks after launch, but so did the majority of consoles, its first weeks were glorious, and then they falled. If by middle March to middle April, the console continues selling good, then some celebration can come, but not till then. We don't even know how much the stores receive, the PS4 was always sold out by preorder time, and it only sold 309k on release week.

And yet you can't find a PlayStation 4 anywhere in the world.

They've been hard to find since the second it launched.

Japan had it launch just some days ago, so it is obvious. I'm pretty sure there are still waiting for there pre-orders in the other two main regions, so anything that doesn't go to them, will be put to sell, and be sold fast, since it is the only stock available. When all pre-orders that may be on wait, and InFamous rolls, then that is when we can truly celebrate the magnificent sales the PS4 is having, if it maintains it.

It will maintain it since every single unit is getting sold asap.

At the moment. We cannot foretell the future, the PS4 may stay how it is, or sell alot less for week, it is always better to wait to celebrate, than do it prematurely, and then see how much things have become, the same happen to Wii U and Vita, people celebrated way to fast, and look at where they are now. The 3DS was doomed fastly, and looked where it is now. It is better to wait to celebrate, than to celebrate prematurely, since we cannot see how things will continue.

And yet you can't find a PlayStation 4 anywhere in the world.

If I remember correctly, Sony said that the PS4 will continue to be hard to find until April (next month).

Exactly.

I'm surprised it took this long- beautiful system

Damn, I guess I need step up and get mine now huh?

I'm still looking for a PS4 to get in stock in the US. Never had to try this hard to even attempt to get a console.
