Petition to bring CometChat back (or at least a better chat service)

Posted

I think this is necessary now more than ever.

There are a lot of issues now, and there were before. I know it's not because of DC, and I know he's doing a lot to keep the site good and running, but this chat system is ridiculous.
To prove my point, I'll list the issues:
Eternal/never-leaving notifications (unless you click them, but it's really tedious to click every notification for each message you get)
Notification box underneath the person's name and task bar.
Chat boxes overlapping and messages from other people on another chatbox.
Sometimes the chatbox will automatically minimize itself, even if I'm in the middle of typing a response.

Among many other issues I may neglect to list. (Other posters, please list the issues you're experiencing too.)
To be clear, no, I'm not asking for you to fix these issues, DChiuch. You fixed issues this chat has had before, and they happened again. Several more times. If you do fix these issues, they'll just come back again. And again. So, why not *potentially* permanently fix it by switching back to CometChat (which worked perfectly), or another chat service that probably works much better? In fact, we didn't ask you to change to ArrowChat, none of us really wanted it in the first place. Yes, ArrowChat has more features, but are these features really worth all the glitches it comes with?
Don't get me wrong, DC, I love you and all the work you've done for the site, but is ArrowChat really worth keeping at this point?
So, since this is a petition of sorts, comment on whether or not you agree if it should be changed back.

*Yes, I did clear my cache. Just now, in fact.
Still, nothing changed.

I tried really hard to get used to Arrowchat but its proven very hard to love and forgive. I nominate we bring back CometChat (which we know still exists: http://kh13.com/forum/cometchat) or a new chat system entirely.

There's a new version coming soon, it should fix those issues.

the new version doesn't change the fact that there will still be issues and we never really wanted itBesides, how many "new versions" of cometchat have there been without those issues being fixed?

Like one if any.

I've only experienced problems on Mobile, which I addressed before with DC. Beyond that, I don't really mind the Arrowchat service. Though I did like what we had before..

I haven't used the chat in a while, so I never got those notification boxes. From what I did use of it though, it was pretty buggy. I'd personally have to say I prefer the old one, so count me in I guess.

I'm on board with this as well my chat has been buggy as well.

I've had my fair shake of problems with the chat system too. It's why I haven't used it to talk to anybody for a while now. Going back to the old system is a good idea.

I've had problems with this chat system as well too, but nothing out of the extraordinary :/

Going back to the old one would be great, but isn't there another chat system we could consider before we go back to the old one?

I'm not sure which package DChiuch purchased, but ArrowChat did cost a bit.

Hey guys, just wanted to say that I'm not ignoring this topic. I'm not taking any action yet, but I'll consider switching back to CometChat sometime in the future.
