Star Wars: Battlefront developers were owned by EA

Posted

Pandemic Studios who developed Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront II became an Electronic Arts-owned developer from 2007 to 2009, when it was officially closed. EA are now developing the new Star Wars: Battlefront game.

Nice to see things come full circle. Now let's hope the new Star Wars: Battlefront game will be as good as we always hoped III would be.

I have very mixed feeling about the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront III.

On one hand, yaaaaaay Battlefront 3. Omgomgomgomgomg.

But on the other, I don't trust EA and DICE with the game. I don't want something where I have to buy "premium map packs" or something abosultely riddled with DLC. I want the same good experience I had with Battlefront 2 and I don't think DICE can give me it. DICE can't even get Battlefield 4 working despite it being on the market for 7 months, so...

It's not even called III. Which I'm glad, it shouldn't be seen as the follow up to II.

Oh you know what I meant. The next "big" Battlefront game then.

Given the fact that it's EA I'm already saying R.I.P Star Wars

Tell that to FIFA and Madden NFL.

Tell that to FIFA and Madden NFL.

Those are based on SPORTS BRANDS so of course they'll be successful due to their relation with Madden and FIFA with little to no marketing

Just tell people that the world cup is near and they'll buy FIFA's merchandises and games in an instant

Star Wars on the other hand is suffering in terms of movies and it didn't help that most Star Wars games aside from the Force Unleashed games and the Old Republic games(the only good star wars games)

Aliens Colonial Marines was a piece of shit but it has high sales despite the game being glitchy and broken up the ass

I didn't know that sales actually dictate how you can enjoy a game

Heck the Persona series isn't selling as much as FF sure but it has some of the best games I've ever played

I've already lost hope for Star Wars' future when it comes to gaming, and I'm pretty close to losing all hope for the movies, too. Freaking EA...

I'm interested in the new Star Wars: Battlefront. Hopefully EA is doing a good job at developing it.

And they're amazing games. Seriously, as a big football fan I think they're both amazing.

Cuz it's the same game over and over again heck FIFA 2014 has the exact same structure and coding as FIFA 2013 but they added a team or two....heck their last Madden game was discovered to be not only a rehash of an old madden game but it was a built that was worse than the one shown in E3

But hey what can I say if the only things you play in life are FF,KH and football

Honestly I'm just going to be indifferent about this until I see a full trailer detailing their graphics and gameplay for myself. Until then, let's see what EA can do.

It's EA's fault for making Battlefield 4 glitchy. DICE is a game development company, and EA's publishers (and developer). EA pushed DICE to release Battlefield 4 early to be ahead of competition (CoD), but that went down the drain.

I really hope they take their precious time making the new Battlefront game, I want to see how they are gonna pull this off.

Battlefront, and Battlefront II was my entire teen hood. I purchased both on the same day they came out, and I would play it nearly every day. The Battlefront franchise is a remarkable one. Even after seven years, the servers are still packed. And to this day, both games remain in my top ten favorite games. They were so genuine, and fun. Seeing EA, and DICE take over, I see the franchise going in two possible directions. One, where the game turns out to look like a 14.99$ DLC for Battlefield 4. Or, it can become the next-gen of Star Wars games.

No disrespect to EA, or DICE. They have  developed some good games over the past few years. But they are covered in DLC. One thing about old PS2/Xbox/PC games was, there was no DLC, it was all in one package. I can almost guarantee there will be loads of expensive DLC awaiting this game. Overall, the upcoming battlefront game will be good, no doubt about it. But what I want, is it to feel like the original two.

We'll see what happens. I'm not expecting greatness, but I'd love for there to be some greatness.

Actually there was a DLC pack for Battlefront II on PC and 360 which added Kit Fisto and Battlefront I maps.

I also play TRANSFORMERS, Pokémon, Star Wars and Dragon Ball Z games. And I even play other games sometimes. And honestly, that's plenty since I have other things to do.
