Do you think that KH3 will have linear gameplay or free world gameplay?

Posted

What I mean by linear gameplay is that this type of gameplay goes with the story a lot more than free world gameplay .It also means that you have to go to each world one by one. Free world gameplay will let you explore worlds in any order making the story not as good as linear gameplay does.

I may not fully understand your question, but I think Kingdom Hearts III will follow the same pattern of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance. Yeah you could not go everywhere from the get-go, and technically there was a chronological order to it, but you could choose whichever world you wanted from a group of 2-5 choices. I think this likens to more of a linear story, but there is just enough freedom to where you can make an impact on your playing.

a mix of both like X[chi]

You mean like choosing a Robot master in a Megaman game where you choose whatever stage you wanna start with?

Well that won't work honestly,if anything it'll make the story even more confusing, something that the KH series doesn't need more of

What I want them to add is optional dungeons that you have the option to explore but you're not forced to do it....similar to the extra dungeons in most Final Fantasy games

Super Mario bros is an example of linear gameplay because in the game you go to each world one by one until you get in to the final stage, while zelda 1 from the legend of zelda is an example of a free world gameplay because in that game you get to complete each dungeon in any order you want.

Well I'm a huge fan of Mario and Zelda to begin with

But the formula you've mentioned(going to any world without order) is similar to Megaman games and Zelda A Link Between worlds

I think it will be similar to the previous games where it's world per world, with additional story arcs (after completing it the first time) that cause you to return and unattainable items you can't get on your first playthrough.

Though the world's won't have a set order like it has to be A-B-C-D, it could be rearranged and in whatever order you like

I think it's going to be exactly the way it has been. I wouldn't mind an even more pre-determined path then usual if each world was "open world". With more areas and bigger "rooms". Or maybe even get rid of the "rooms" all together and have seamless transition between areas, though I do kind of like each world having it's own emblem. Besides a linear progression system makes for a more coherent story.

i thinks kh (1/2) are pretty much free world gameplay. you have always the choice to walk away from it.

It probably will be structured a lot like KH 1/2. Though hopefully the actual worlds won't feel linear.

I like the world one...

But it will most likely follow that one too. After all in DDD you could go in any order you wanted to. But you had to complete a certain amount of worlds first before you go into another part.
