That was the biggest problem with the first XIII story.....all the stuff you need to know about the story are mostly explained in the datalog and barely shown in cutscenes if not at all....it's better to show the player the story rather than festfeeding him with a mountain of text in the game's encycolpedia

Agreed, as much as I loved the story I struggled to understand it until like chapter 10.

Dude I dedicated almost 2 hours of a gameplay session for the datalog just to understand what's going on right after I reached Chapter 11

Yeah but that breaks the flow of the game if you paused whatever event you're on just to read that tidbit of information that the game decided to put as text rather than actually showing it
