My Twilight Princess Dilemma! D:

Posted

Hey there everyone, how's it going?  As you all know, I've been playing The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess.  It's the first Zelda game I owned, and after having played through it once, I stopped playing it when I had gotten to the fifth temple if I'm not mistaken.  Fast forward two or three years later, and I've beaten Ocarina Of Time 3D and I haven't beaten Twilight Princess yet, and so, I made myself the goal of starting Twilight Princess over so I can play it from beginning to end!  So far so good right?

Okay, so here I am, enjoying my time with the game, taking in the dramatic story and goofy yet down to earth characters, taking down goblins and going through temples, and then, after 9 hours of game time and two temples overcome, I come upon Hyrule Bridge on my way to the Lanayru Province, and after I blow up two boulders with a bomb, the bridge collapses, and Twilit beasts get on the bridge.  Okay, so here comes the infuriating part!  I save the game and turn off my Wii console, and then, fast forward to today, and as I turn on the game, I notice that I'm not on the side of the bridge where the Twilight is!  No, I'm on the other frickin side!  In disbelief, I searched online to see if there was a way I could cross the bridge or find an alternate path, but I read online that if I saved after blowing up the bombs and not getting the Eldin Province checkpoint, I come upon a glitch that doesn't let me proceed in the game.  So you know what I did?  I put down the controller, got pissed the fudge off, and then I regretfully erased the game data.  9 hours of gameplay, gone to waste...

But, on the bright side, since I know what I have to do until the point where I got stuck, I can just speedrun through the first two temples and reach the Lanayru Province in less time.  I guess I'll be starting the game again.  I'll do anything to finish it!  So then, have you all experienced a similar situation in a video game that leaves you with no other option than to restart a game?  Or has it happened to you in Twilight Princess like it happened to me?  Anyways, thanks for reading, I needed to let this out. What you can do is read up on all the known glitches (hopefully without spoiling yourself), that way you can pre-empt yourself to avoid any progression-halting glitches should they arrive.

I love Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, I think those two together with WindWaker and Skyward Sword make up 4 of the most epic Zelda games imo. Majora's mask was pretty meh to me xD

Enjoy your TP and don't give up!! If you play the game to completion, it is an accomplishment because the story is pretty epic

Edit:: Copy your save files too, it will save you should something like this happen again

It didn't happen to me because I played the gamecube version of the game.

I played the Wii version and it worked fine with me ^_^

It's the same with either version, but I believe taking a leap of faith is a possible fix. I'm having a hard time remebering, but I feel like I've had the bridge problem before. I've only ever beaten it twice and it has been years since my last playthrough. It's not my favorite title, not even close to it, but I know quite a lot having completed the game 100% both times. I've had my fair share of wacky glitches and clunky Wii controls. I prefer the GameCube version though.

I love Twilight Princess, everything about the game is amazing.  I just got so infuriated with that glitch that I erased the game data and well, I'll have to start the game again.  I don't mind it though, since I already know what I have to do. :)

I read up on it a bit. It appears to happen only in some versions of TP. I'm assuming by versions, they mean early copies before it became a Nintendo Select, the Nintendo equivalent to Sony's Greatest Hits.

Hmm, interesting.  So mine has got to be an early copy. :O  (I say this because I bought the game  used, not new, because I couldn't find a new one anywhere, so I had to settle for a used copy, though it has lasted a long time.)

I would assume so. At least you know now, that you can't save until you enter the Twilight.

I feel ya man, that happened to me a lot with most Namco games on Ps2 especially Tekken 5...there was a glitch in the game that causes the data to corrupt and erase my save file just like what happened to you

Fortunately, I read up on that glitch and made sure to avoid that from happening. There's also another glitch where you get stuck because you can't teleport or something like that. Not sure where/when that exactly is, so you should look that up.
