To those who think Nintendo are going to announce a new console at E3

Posted

Are Nintendo currently developing their next handheld and home consoles? There's definitely a high chance of that especially for their next handheld, considering their hardware is already outdated. The PlayStation 4 as an example begun development about four years before it was released and the PlayStation 3 was still the most powerful console with the best hardware and was just hitting it's prime. Am I suggesting Nintendo will release their next handheld in 2017 or 2018? Not quite, but it's definitely a high possibility they will then.

Basically it's likely Nintendo are developing their next consoles but it's extremely unlikely they'll announce them this year. They might announce a new model or accessory for their current consoles but that's about it.

3DS Player anyone?

I think they will not announce something new, maybe a new 3DS model with a second analog stick or something like that. but for a new console it is way to early!

Really, all I'm hoping for is a 3DS XL with a secondary analog stick and secondary shoulder/trigger buttons already attached to it. That's the only thing I'll trade my 3DS for right now. I'm not really expecting Nintendo to jump the gun...or shark.

They are probably doing some R&D for their next hardware, but like you said they won't annonce a new console this year, its way too early.

They are of course more than likely working on their next consoles, even if it's just very early concepts.

Nintendo however wouldn't announce something unless it was nearer an actual release (3DS was announced in 2010 & Wii U was in 2011). I highly doubt the next handheld is any where near release considering the DS was on the market for 6 years before the announcement of the 3DS and we are currently only in the 3rd year of the 3DS.

I reckon if any new "hardware" is shown it'll probably be something to do with that "Quality of Life" stuff they mentioned not long ago. I don't see a new console being shown off.
