I wasn't a big fan of Black/White to be honest. I think it was because I didn't like Unova as a region. The story was one of the better ones in the series but then when they made Black/White 2 I really suffered fatigue with Gen V. Actually I think I've only got 6 badges in White 2 and I still haven't finished it.

 

I really wanted to like Gen V honestly I did but, it's probably one of my least favourite generations. Maybe I'll go back to the games in a few years and give it another go but until then eh.

 

I did however like a good few Pokemon introduced in BW. The Snivy line is easily one of my favourite starter Pokemon lines.

I've never finished Pokémon Black, it bothered me so much that there weren't any previous gen Pokémon in this game so I had a really hard time to get a good team. Black2/White2 were way more fun then Black/White in my opinion, one of the reasons is because they decided to put more previous gen Pokémon in it, and I just felt like the game overall was more fun then Black/White was.

I skipped this gen. Didn't really appeal to me much. I think they lasted too long on DS, understandable reasons why though.

I like that fact we don't start with 10 year olds. Even though we still never got official ages, I predict they're around 14 years old.

 

As for designs, BW tie up with RSE designs. I'd say BW 2 if it wasn't for Nate. (His design was meh, hell his rival had a better design than him)

 

And this is my favorite gen due to the story, characters, and nice designs. (Mah Lilligant! But those Trusbish Pokemon tho...)

I thought I read somewhere that the protags for BW1 were about 16, but maybe that's me just assuming. lolI had no problem with the new pokemon either, even though there was a significant power creep, but what do you expect when they added just as much new pokemon as Gen 1 added. The designs were pretty hit-and-miss (e.g. Chandelure and Accelgor are pretty great, but Klinklang on the other hand..) I loved how BW1 tried to parallel RBY with a lot of the similar design of the 'mons and the exclusivity of the Unova dex, and I wish Game Freak would've gone that route rather than all of the nostalgia whoring that's been going on in Gen 6. BW2's got amazing replay value, too.Overall Gen 5's my favorite games since the GSC days, and I kind of feel like the series really took a step back in XY. I might change my mind if a 3rd version or sequel or whatever comes out, like how Platinum really improved the Sinnoh games.

Pretty much my thoughts in a nutshell. BW was supposed to be that, but GameFreak's mistake was making it still on the DS. I remember many being diappointed at this, while some glad they didn't need to save money for a 3DS. XY gained a good chunk of sales due to the whoring, there's no denying that. Best example? How the firetruck is there more gen 1 legends to obtain than Kalos legends? lol clearly GF went full throttle to gain lost customers and it worked.I think BW is underrated. People didn't give it a try because they couldn't access previous gen mons till post game is a BS reason. It's a new gen, what did you expect? Using Charmander every gen?

Finally someone who realized XY's story wasn't that great compared to the previous Generation.

I really felt XY was a step back story-wise. Thought it was certainly a good plot on paper, it wasn't really that well executed. Team Flare had a scary motive which could've been presented better with its grunts. Also they were pretty pathetic sometimes that I couldn't take them seriously.

 

Gen V had the best story no doubt about it, I think it was the most highlighted feature. Since people do not expect a good story when it comes to Pokemon it was pretty surprising. The Pokemon were great, I grown to love the Trubbish line but I did not care about Klink's evolution line though, but it was fun using Klinklang's Gear Grind. It's characters were one of the best too, N was an actual character with character development.

 

BW2 was good but I thought BW was much better in terms of story. BW2 was more into the traditional formula in the series than BW which kind of messed with it a bit.

 

Though, I can wait for Pokemon Z or X2/Y2 and they may make a better story. I think they relied too much on gameplay and features, which is good and all, but I also wish they spent some more time on the story.
