Earlier, it was announced that Sony's PlayStation Portable is being discontinued in Japan this month. We now know that it has been discontinued in North America since January and will be discontinued in Europe later this year. Thanks to GoingSony.

 

The PSP has sold just under 81 million units worldwide. This is good enough for the 9th highest selling video game platform of all time. The PSP sold best in Europe but sold poorly in North America. It is also the second highest selling video game platform outside of Japan, North America and Europe of all time. Thanks to VGChartz.

This is just now getting discontinued? I thought it already got discontinued a while ago. I can barely find any PSPs anywhere. 

I remember how I didn't want a PSP until Birth By Sleep came out. I naturally got the Birth By Sleep PSP bundle since I didn't have a PSP at the time. My mother actually got the bundle for me and since then, I didn't really use the PSP except to play Birth By Sleep.

wait. the psp wasent already discontinued? how come i never see it in stores? how did people buy them brand new say a month or so ago? does playstation have an online store? (no i dont mean playstation store on psn ) the only reason i got a psp was for megaman powered up, megaman maverick hunter x, and o course, BIRTH BY SLEEP!!!! (KH FREAKING ROX!!!! ^_^)

I remember wanting a PSP solely for Dissidia, then it became one of my favorite handhelds.

I have Crisis Core, Dissidia/Dissidia 012, Birth By Sleep, and a few other PSP games! I loved the PSP, and I still play it! One of the directional buttons is busted, so I have to find someone who can fix it! D:
