I am Aang, ( obviously ) and I come here to ask something I've always thought to myself:
How long will Kingdom Hearts live past the Xehanort saga?
We're all too familiar with Sora, Donald, and Goofy being that these are our main protagonists in every game. We've been with them through thick and thin, and have come to love the three. You may, or may not have heard that game director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that Sora will remain the main protagonist after Kingdom Hearts III.
Now, with all do respect, I love Sora, Donald, and Goofy. And I love going on these adventures with them, but after seven games I don't know how long they could keep this up. Through all of the magnificent games, we've always seen something new, but have had many similar scenarios in every game. I personally think that we've seen it all, and that it's time for a new era, with a new protagonist after Kingdom Hearts III.
And being that we're having the same protagonist, in a new saga, what is left to tell? To experience? NOTHING. I kind of view the next saga as being one of those Disney sequels to a classic, timeless movie. You know, those classic movies that we all know and love only to make an unnecessary sequels? That's how I am currently viewing another saga with Sora. There's a time when you have used all of your source material, and have gotten it just right. What do you do? You leave it alone. We've experienced nearly everything with Sora, and I feel that there just isn't much to do after. Sora has pretty much mastered the arts of the keyblade, got the girl of his dreams, world piece, and happiness. END HIS STORY THERE.
What I would do, is make Kingdom Hearts III a powerful, and meaningful game that not only concludes the Xehanort saga, but ends that of Sora's happily. I then would make a Dissidia game or something, covering that Saga.
I then would create a new saga, with new villians, new era's and a new, fresh main protagonist. Take Cloud from Final Fantasy VII for example, we all love him. He's great, and his story was a long and touching one, and the ending was a satisfying conclusion, and they moved on to a different set of characters, same goes for Lightening on FFXIII.
I love Sora, and I love all of the Kingdom Hearts games. I only wish the best for the series, and do not want to see it become boring, and repetitive. After the saga we need to see NEW worlds, characters, and plots.
As they say, out with the old and on with the new.
