Ok so I was wondering has Nomura gone into detail about how Organization XIII Members get their weapons because I understand how Xaldin,Lexeaus,Xigbar, and Roxas got their weapons because they had their weapons prior to transformation but even so how do they get the elemental affinities?!?!?

I think that they had their elemental powers by using how they felt when they lost their heart. Correct me if i'm wrong.

They don't have to be good at it beforehand. Because they're special Nobodies who have strong hearts, they gain elemental powers and really awesome weapons which are generally exaggerated versions of whatever they wielded prior. The games don't go in-depth into why, though. It's just magic.

Maybe Xehanort did something to them, just like the artificial heartless. Maybe there's just not a logic explanation.

Why can Terra perform attacks Aqua and Ventus can't, Aqua perform attacks Terra and Ventus can't, and Ventus perform attacks Terra and Aqua can't? I think one's elemental affinity is either something they're born with, or it's just a part of who they are. Maybe they can't use it right away, but I think some aspect of one's personality determines it. 'if you think about it, for a number of characters with elemental affinities, their particular affinity just makes sense based on their character. Larxene is a sadist and has a temper, so lightning. Zexion is clever and manipulative, so illusions. Isa has a crescent moon on his jacket on BBS, so he clearly had fondness if not affinity for the moon even before he became Saix.
