Pokemon Trading Card Game -- 3DS Virtual Console Trailer

Featured Replies

I never understood how to play the card game so I always made my own rules. that I mostly collected the cards for the cute animals on them! xD

Ahhhh good memories

I hope this comes to NA. I hated the actual physical TCG, but loved the game version for whatever reason.

Oh, really? I thought it was Europe, since they just got it. Good to know it's coming here, too. :D

Come to think of it,I hope they do a sequel to it on the 3DS,Yu gi oh didn't have a problem making video games out of the card game so I don't think it's hard to do with something as iconic as Pokemon

The game hasn't been confirmed for North America yet. It's out today in Europe and tomorrow in Australia.

IGN reported it, and they never said that it was for America.

I think it will come out in both America and Japan but as of now there isn't a confirmation.

Today in Australia actually. Haha.

So Nintendo finally manages to port a Pokemon game on the GameBoy to the 3Ds Eshop, but it's the card game. *inhales deeply* Ok I'll get it when it comes out.

I'd probably get a 3DS sequel if they made one, but I only really know the old rules for the TCG. I'd probably be completely lost if they made one based off of X/Y. They should also find some way to localize the sequel and release it on the eShop, I'd really like to get to use G/S Pokemon.

Honestly not a lot has changed. There's these new EX cards and I guess Fairy type is now a thing but I recently got into playing the TCG and it's not all that different to the rules in this Gameboy game. The only notable thing is that there are waaaaay more Pokemon now then back in the day so there is more room for strategy. The Pokemon TCG website allows you to download a (currently in beta) version of the game where you can learn how to play, build your own decks, play against people and other stuff. I can't say I've tried this new version but I did try it out when it was all done on their website in browser format and I learned how to play the game.

Still though I do agree, I'd love a 3DS sequel or a localisation of GS game.

Oh, really? I think I fell out when they started the EX cards, I don't know much about them. I thought they'd add a lot more. xD I might try out that online version at some point to see how it is. Thanks!

The EX cards aren't actually that complex. They mainly consist of rare over-powered legendary cards, the final forms of starters (Charizard and the like) or now Mega evolutions. There could be EX cards for other types of Pokemon but I haven't come across any to be honest. If you defeat an opponents EX card it counts as defeating two Pokemon instead of one, so at least you are rewarded for your efforts.

Hehe, no problem! :P

I'm kinda disappointed this still hasn't been released on the North American eShop. I was really excited to get it, but I'm getting worried that it's not going to come out here at all at this point.

That is disappointing. I always want all Virtual Console and Classics releases available in every country and territory it was originally released in.

Agreed. I'd love to upgrade my Wii version of the Virtual Console release for FFVI, but that one doesn't seem to be coming outside Japan any time soon. Keeping games in specific regions just seems pointless to me at this point, I don't see why they can't just be released everywhere.

Yeah, hopefully Square Enix North America and Europe pick it up soon. Square Enix Japan is almost done. I think they just have Chrono Trigger left.

If I remember correctly, Chrono Trigger was the last game they got on Wii's VC. That might have just been in America, though. Doesn't surprise me that that's what they saved for last on Wii U.

You do remember correctly. 2011. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Trigger

Was it really 2011? I remember it so well, I swore it was 2012 or something like that.

Well going by Wikipedia it was. 2012 would have been REALLY late.

I know, I just seem to remember it being later for whatever reason. I still remember everyone getting excited after the sudden release.
