Posted July 19, 201411 yr While we're planning the redesign for KH13.com we must decide which way the title of the HD collections will be written everywhere on KH13.com. "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX" or "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix". Which do you prefer?
July 19, 201411 yr I'd just like to point out the difference between the two: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is how it's written in an encyclopaedic style, eg. see Wikipedia. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is an altered version of Square Enix's style (Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX), with some removed capitalization to be more in-line with English language.

July 19, 201411 yr Fool. You should write it like it is on the games' covers. ReMIX The game covers all say Kingdom Hearts rather than Kingdom Hearts, what's your opinion on that?
July 19, 201411 yr The game covers all say Kingdom Hearts rather than Kingdom Hearts, what's your opinion on that? Fool. I don't really have one. Except for that on the actual game cases where the game is held. It is written as Kingdom Hearts. They look like upper case letters, but the letters that are lower case are distinctively smaller than the upper case. So although they look like upper case letters, they are lower case. It is just a style. On the collectors pack box though, it appears to be all upper case. So if you are talking about the games as individuals, then Kingdom Hearts. But if it is the collectors pack, then Kingdom Hearts. However, for the ReMIX part, I think that it should be ReMIX as it is on the case, but not because it is like that on the case. I just prefer it. That is because of the double meaning it can hold. It is indeed a remix by definition. But with it written as ReMIX, it is seperating the two parts of the word holding the second meaning. It is a "Re"done "MIX"ture of games. And I think that's kind of fancy.
July 19, 201411 yr Author The game covers all say Kingdom Hearts rather than Kingdom Hearts, what's your opinion on that? All Platinum (That's Greatest Hits for the North Americans) cases for Square Soft/Enix games during the PS2 era were written as "Kingdom Hearts" and "Final Fantasy".

Good point about the sizing of letters on the box, but if you look at places like http://www.kingdomhearts.com/, then it's clear that they do use "Kingdom Hearts" and "Final Mix", and so on. They definitely do that much more than they write "Kingdom Hearts", which is very rare for them to do. I thought the general consensus from http://kh13.com/forum/topic/74743-lets-officially-decide-what-naming-convention-to-use-on-kh13-kingdom-hearts-hd-15-remix-or-kingdom-hearts-hd-15-remix/ was to ignore the publisher's style and just go with an encyclopaedic style of writing game titles, which is why I thought Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix would make more sense, to be consistent with the rest of the guidelines we decided upon. It's true that "ReMIX" is a mixture of "Re:" and "MIX", but under our decided policy of not capitalizing "Final Mix" anymore, that would make "ReMix", which I'm sure that no one wants.I'll explain Wikipedia's policy: It's basically that, out of all of the names for something that are in common usage, you pick the one that is closest to the style accepted in the English language and use that. Since Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is in common usage (in places like Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-1-5-Remix-Playstation-3/dp/B008SBZD5U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405759375&sr=8-1&keywords=kingdom+hearts+1.5 and lots of other websites), and since "Remix" is closer to English than "ReMIX" or "ReMix", Wikipedia has gone with "Remix".

July 19, 201411 yr Author That's because publishers don't get to style their titles on platinum games, I imagine that Sony do. Well technically Sony published FFX and KH1 in Australia for both original and platinum editions and that didn't change anything for either edition. But yeah, you're probably right.

Fool. With them going back and forth with capitalization, I guess it's a matter of taste. The matter of taste for this site has been decided on that thread. I never saw it, so I was not aware. I feel that the Mix in Final Mix and the MIX in ReMIX are two completely different things with different meanings. So ReMix is out, like you've said. In the end it is an opinion. The site has decided its opinion on these types of situation. So to go with what we already do with the guidelines, I guess it should be remix. I think it should be ReMIX only because I think it is cool. The guidelines were decided upon general consensus, so I can only wait for this poll to end and see what the general consensus is on this matter. And just one last thing to ask since I do not know. On that website you linked me to and on the game cases, they both use ReMIX, and it doesn't change like Kingdom Hearts or Final Mix. Is there anywhere that Square Enix didn't write as ReMIx? Because if not, I don't see why we should change something that is definitely decided upon from the creators. Edited July 19, 201411 yr by MasterXemnas

Because if not, I don't see why we should change something that is definitely decided upon from the creators. I'm not quite sure if they've ever written Remix, but I think Final Mix is always in caps. The reason you would decide something else is the Wikipedia policy that the creator doesn't always have the final say, if the creator's wishes don't align with the English language. For example, the movie Borat is actually always called Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan by the creators, but Wikipedia doesn't respect their wishes because it's too unusual for a name to be that long in English language, plus Borat is in common usage. Same for Kingdom Hearts, Wikipedia doesn't respect that because it's unusual for English words to be in full caps.

July 19, 201411 yr Author ReMIX, taking the "Re" from Re:COM/Re:Coded and MIX from Final Mix. There's so many inconsistencies with those titles you've just listed.
July 19, 201411 yr I think it should be ReMIX because they write it that way to showcase both the Re:s and the Final Mixes. Remix just doesn't do that, Nor does it have the same impact and it's not as aesthetically pleasing. You can write Kingdom Hearts and Final Mix either way and they won't loose any meaning but "Remix" will. I understand why Wikipedia doesn't stylize it's entrees because it's meant to be a source of information like an encyclopedia, but encyclopedias tend to be dry, bland and boring. KH13 has become much more than that, not just a comprehensive database, but a community. Edited July 19, 201411 yr by Isamu_Kuno
July 19, 201411 yr Author Thank you everyone for the feedback. We've decided to use "ReMIX" after the overwhelming response to it.
July 19, 201411 yr Thanks for the feedback everyone, it's clear that a lot of people feel very strongly about keeping "ReMIX", so we'll stick with that. So for those interested, our style guidelines will be as follows: Follow the Wikipedia Manual of Style where possible, with these exceptions: - Consider that Wikipedia has misjudged the correct names for 1.5 and 2.5, and thus use "ReMIX". More in-depth explanation: Wikipedia took their Trademarks guideline "Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official", as long as this is a style already in widespread use, rather than inventing a new one", and interpreted this as meaning to use "Remix", as they thought "Remix" was in widespread use-- however at KH13 we don't consider "Remix" to be in widespread use, thus we'll use "ReMIX".
While we're planning the redesign for KH13.com we must decide which way the title of the HD collections will be written everywhere on KH13.com. "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX" or "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix". Which do you prefer?
