i'm now developing a watch-list of movies which i'm going to watch as inspiration for my writing, here is what i have so far, you can guess in the comments what all of these movies have in common.

 

                                         MUSICALS

Tenacious D & The Pick of Destiny. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (I'm considering to add Team America) Dr. Horrible

 

                                              Sci-fi

                Pacific Rim, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Star Trek (JJ Abrams) 

 

                                        SUPERHERO

               Superman Returns, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy

 

                                  HORROR/FANTASY 

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (as an exception, i'll add the TV series, maybe Angel too)

They all have more than one scene in them!

There all about a person who was boring and unneeded in the world finding something that makes them important amongst a group of people

I'm afraid the only thing i know that they have in common is that you're going to watch all of them. (But if you can see other things that these movies have in common then that's a pretty good thing actually)How good of a choice these movies are depends on what kind of stories you plan on writing. Example: If you want to write something about comedy  you should go for comedy movies.Also I would strongly recommend reading some good novels since you plan on writing

They all save the world(Scott pilgrim, Batman, Superman, Pacific Rim)

Hm....well it seems to me, that the movies you picked all involve a rag-tag team of heroes or "chosen ones" that must come together to stop a common threat. With plenty of humorous moments of course.
