So I was browsing the interwebs and I found this interesting little article. This one uses Tomb Raider, and Diablo 3 as examples, but this can be applied to any video game you want to purchase on launch day.

It talks about waiting a few months till the game gets more better and less money in the future.

Give it a read and tell me what you think about this.

Well, considering your summary talks about how the game gets better after time, I think it's sad. We use to have polished games that were complete and had very little glitching, if any at all. Now we have games that lack bits and pieces of content, can be very buggy, but get sent to market then patched later.

Exactly. Take Battlefield 4 for example. Overhyped game. Sent out to beat CoD before it release. Contains so many glitches that can be handled by waiting a few more months.

It's upsetting to see that Publishers only care about getting the game out there rather than making sure it's perfect and ready to go.

In terms of content, it's a pretty similar situation with Naruto Shippuden: Ulitmate Ninja Storm 3. Bunch of costumes exclusive in preorder, then Full Burst came along and with revamped scenes, a new chapter that could've been included at Launch.

I think it depends on the game, honestly. A lot of games can end up this way. However, some (Nintendo's first party games come to mind) are worth buying day one, since they rarely have these problems.

IDK. There was that Glitch that wiped out the entire save file, which was patched.

X/Y had a couple glitches, but most of their games have been good from release (I got MK8 on release day, and haven't found any glitches/bugs).

I agree to an extent. But FFXV, KH3, and Pokemon ORAS are day one buys for me. Waiting a few months won't make those games any better. Japanese games tend to release more complete than Western games.

The Witcher 3 I will probably buy day one too. But anything from EA, Activision, or Ubisoft? You're better off waiting.

sure in 6 months the game will be half its original price and patched, but if you think I'm waiting an extra 6 months for Kingdom Hearts 3, you belong in the crazy house! If I was stranded on a deserted island when KH3 is released I'll have played it within the week... True story.

Unless it's a game I really, really want right now like RIGHT NOW, I don't usually gets games the day-of. Wait a while and the price'll go down. Wait and while and the DLC will come out. Wait even more of a while, and you may find a version of the game complete with all DLC, including limited edition pre-order thingies that weren't actually limited edition!

I usually use internet if I'm unsure whether I have enough levels for a certain boss. Or if I'm stuck REAL bad. I always try to avoid spoilers though.

I agree on some exceptions such as RPGs that are single player only and not online, like SE games and Nintendo, but any other game out there, I wait a good while before buying.

It doesn't really apply with Nintendo games.
