WARNING: Now, before you guys start a shit storm in the comment section you have to know that everybody has a right to their opinion and please do not be a douchebag about your opinion if you don't agree with me.

...

And now that we got that out of the way, let's get to my reasons why i think he is overrated.

In my opinion, i think he is just a Sherlock Holmes ripoff with mommy-and-daddy issues, and a coward whose only ''power'' is to hide in his shadows.

That doesn't mean i don't like him, he does have some well-written stories and a cool rogues gallery and i respect his writers.

It's just that his style of superheroics are just not for me, and when it comes to DC Comics i'm more of a Green Lantern-type guy.

I'm glad that you took the time to read this topic, and if you don't agree with me i am completely okay with me, i respect that.

I personaly dont see why everyone thinks he is so great. To me he is boring and doesn't represent what a hero should be. Also, he is a real asshole. He doesn't trust his friends. His storys always disapoint me in the comics. Because most of the time they end with him knowing the plan of a villian the whole time. It gets boring. I like him. Just not as much as everyone else.

I guess the general public just likes a depressed millionaire running around the city in his Halloween costume, beating up clowns and penguins while having his underwear on the outside, and desperately needing a throat lozenge.

Extremely overrated. Plastic Man is best DC character

I think he's the most overrated superhero in the history of the world.  Lots of people don't care who he's fighting against, he's batman so he just wins automatically.  He only wins against Superman 'cause he brings kryptonite, which if that's the case then he should be removed of his gadgets and martial arts abilities too for a fair fight.  I don't even care for superheros, don't have a favourite, but there's so many who just blindly favors him cause he's the most relatable to a moody emo teenager.

-Near genius level intellect-Master-class martial arts abilities-Technological mastery.

This is what makes him such a good hero, he has to work with just his own abilities are at the pinnacle of, but do not exceed natural human limitationGreen Lantern is just OP because all he has to do is imagine a nuke, drop it and everything that isn't yellow is vaporized.

Though I don't really read comics

That said, Ben Afleck is a terrible choice to play Batman.

Green Lantern is not OP, it's just the ring that does everything for him.

Still with the ring, he's OP, without it, he's useless. That's another thing, GLs "powers" don't even come from him, take away his ring and he's just a guy, take Batman's gadgets, and he still has his intellect and physical abilities

Plus there are a ton of GLs, There are much fewer Batmen.

I find him cool because he's sort of different from a lot the others. He doesn't have any powers, he has a bunch of gadgets, which is cool because it feels closer to reality. The idea of any of us gaining superpowers is impossible, but if we had any gadgets, that's a different story. He's cool, he's mysterious. I like him. Don't get why you feel he's Sherlock Holmes with mommy and daddy-issues. If anything he's Iron Man with mommy and daddy-issues. And he doesn't really have mom-dad-issue. It's the online communities that like to joke about he's dead parents all the time. Again, I find him cool and believe he deserves the praise he gets. Superman, now there's an overrated superhero.

While I do think his prowess gets worshipped to the point of parody, I still think Batman is a good character, so long as he's written well. Some people get carried away with his knowing everything ever, but he only is able to get this way through obsessive behavior, lack of a social life, and alienation of others. I think when people recognize the flaws in Batman's crusade, he becomes more interesting. I  really loved the "Hush" story arc, because it juggles Batman's desire to always be on top of things with the fact that he's actually realized he's lonely in life, and he wants something more substantial. Yet, in the end, he can't have it, because of his instinctive trend to not trust and be almost borderline paranoid. Also, "Dark Victory" really looks at how his relationship with Dick Grayson starts, and how Bruce really does want the best for the kid, and has to force himself to trust someone else. All of which is tied into the fact that, while he keeps trying to deny to himself that the scarring of Harvey Dent has affected him, he's actually troubled by the loss of someone he considered a friend, and doesn't want Dick to wind up with the same issues of vengeance and insanity.

I think comic heroes, especially from DC, are at their best when you look past their powers and look at the character and the personal struggles they run into.

Hush was amazing. It's definitly my favorite Batman comic.

GL's ring is based off of willpower. My brain is kind of out of it right now. But the best way I can explain it is that if they do not have the willpower (say they are in fear) then the ring becomes less powerful. GL has also fought and won without the ring. So yeah.

The flash is op though...and amazing.

Another thing. I think Green Arrow is way cooler than Batman. Well...Green Arrow before new 52.

Also, Blue Beatle (Ted Kord) is the coolest hero that has gadgets and no powers.

I think he's VERY overrated. I like him, his character and overall story is a pretty good concept and I firetrucking love the Arkham games. But I mean he's not THAT great. The stories are kinda repetitive. A criminal striked, Batman solves the case, knocks the shit out of them, doesn't kill them, sends them to jail, they escape, and the process repeats.

I find him cool because he's sort of different from a lot the others. He doesn't have any powers, he has a bunch of gadgets, which is cool because it feels closer to reality. Actually a lot of people don't like Superman and you really need to read some of his great comics to appreciate his character. Some of his best storys are about his humanity. Which end up being very well done. A lot of people just think he is boring because he cant lose. When there is a lot more to him than that.

I think a lot of people also don't understand that, while Superman doesn't have every-man problems, he has to deal with Superman problems. Yes, Joe Schmoe with a handgun can't kill him, but that's why Joe Schmoe with a handgun isn't heralded as one of Superman's toughest enemies. He deals with guys like Darkseid, Doomsday, Metalleeto, Braniac, Parasite, and other formidable foes who do pose a challenge to him.

Honestly I only know Batman through animated adaptations like Justice League or Batman Beyond where he's not necessarily the central character, so I can't say anything about the comic side. From what I did see, however, I do appreciate his character. He's an effectual hero but, as others have mentioned, that sort of awesomeness comes with some heavy prices. Batman is messed up, and he probably knows it.

But do I think he's overrated? Through my eyes, yes, because he gets so much exposure when I'm more interested in other things. But at the same time the term "overrated" is meaningless to me because what deserves popularity or not is too subjective.
