It's way too abrupt, games like bloodborne that are intentionally hard you're used to

But this is a game that's easy and suddenly after 13 hours throws a massive difficulty spike for one boss

That's bad game design, when I hit a wall in bloodborne it still feels fair like I can improve

I honestly don't remember Xord being too bad

There a some bosses in mid and endgame that are pretty hard, but you also have to consider your party comp, arts setup (as well as arts levels in a few cases like with Shield), gems/abilities, etc on top of level when you're fighting

Also Chains are OP

So I just grinded and had the chain filled up before the fight began

 

The final Xord battle is easy but I kept messing up on the second one with the infinite enemy spawns, but 20 minutes of grinding and it took 2 minutes to beat him

So long as the other difficulty spikes are actual boss battles and not limited scripted event tutorials like Xord 2nd fight we should be good

Boss battles are pretty different from normal battles I guess, what with bosses usually having status resistances and strong attacks and such. You can probably compare them to the mid to high level Unique mon fights though.

 

Granted it's been a while since I've played it, and my playthrough was pretty drawn out due to playing other games, but I don't remember all the bosses being super bad. I did have a lot of trouble with one of the midgame bosses and the last few, but other than that idk. And even for endgame rearranging team/arts/gear did more help than leveling up did (although with leveling you do get art and skill coins, which do help a lot).
