Why are the 'Wolverine' movies more violent then X-Men?

Posted

I've been in a X-Men 'Wave' recently and I have managed to see all of the real-action movies so far, and something has come to my mind. The Wolverine spin-offs have more blood and violence then the actual X-Men. You can notice that especially when an enemy gets hit and on Logan's blades. They are, most of the time, bloody in the spin-offs and all clean on the official movies.

Also, there's more "suggestive themes" on the spin-offs and a darker twist.

Why's that, though? Aren't all of them based on the same 'universe'?

Wolverine's supposed to be the darker character. The guy who almost crosses the line, but never does because he's, deep down, a good person. Which is why he can fit into the X-Men even if he is the most violent guy on the team. Naturally, his movies have attempted to honor that.

The comics are.

The Wolverine movies aren't spin offs, because they tie into the story of the films.  Origins is obviously his origin story, and I think it goes either before or after First Class, and The Wolverine takes place three years(or was it six?) after the events of X-Men III: The Last Stand, and takes place before Days Of Future Past.  So they aren't spin offs.  And well, as Kaweebo said, Wolverine is the grittiest character out of the group, so obviously the films that focus on just him showcase his grittiness. :3

Well, when your superpower involves having really big knife knuckles, I think gratuitous violence is almost inevitable.

As the antagonist said to Wolverine ´you're a beast' then he thought he was one and act as a beast , probably explained some violence. That's my opinion of course
