Buttercup Camera 229 Posted November 2, 2014 Hey guys, As I have said before, at my early teens, my dad got a copy of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix and I played it to death. It was all in japanese, but still I managed to handle it. I defeated Xemnas and all Organization XIII's Shadows. And because of my hype over 2.5 I just grabbed my old and dusty PS2 and played it again. I leveled up my Final Form to its maximum level; I finished the purple Cavern thingy; defeated Data Marluxia without dying once and Xemnas after a few tries. I went from Lv 59 to 71 in less then two days and I didn't played it for too long. The major problem of this game being japanese isn't the commands, magic and stuff... it's the abilities and materials's names. I'm so close at forging the Ultima, but I'm missing three pieces. They don't have a name and I can't seem to find them on the English normal version. I have 6 Ori+, the seventh can only be abotained after I gather at least 1 specimen of all 60 materials. The shape of the item looks like a yellow mushroom and its name is in "???????????". I've killed countless Nobodies and Heartless with Winnie The Pooh Keyblade and even though I do drop big-ass materials, I already have those.4 I'm kinda missing some Bright and Energy Crystals. And my Moogle is Lv.6. I can't find the bubble-gum machine Heartless on Underworld and Halloween Town... what if I already used them and did it wrong? I haven't played KH2FM in a long time... Do I have to start all over again?... 1 daxvzukss reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted November 2, 2014 Oh god, I remember being so confused about that as a kid. Haha. Good luck!
Buttercup Camera 229 Posted November 2, 2014 Oh god, I remember being so confused about that as a kid. Haha. Good luck! It still is for me. I have no idea what materials they are. I'm gonna check their colour and Letter so if it gives a better clue.

I think I used some guide or something. Hard to remember being it was seven years ago.

Buttercup Camera 229 Posted November 2, 2014 There are a lot of translation guides out there. You mean patches for the game? I'm terrible at getting those... I play the game on the PS2, not on PC with an emulator.
Master Keeper 687 Posted November 2, 2014 You can get Energy Crystal from Bookmasters in Radiant Garden near to Merlin's house.

Ultima Spark 753 Posted November 2, 2014 You're probably looking for (one of) the Tranquil materials (the "yellow mushrooms"). Just spam Final Firaga w/ Bond of Flame and Fire Boost on the Agrabah Mushroom (in the Cave of Wonders treasure room, there's a save point right outside), it's the easiest to grind on (beat it in 10 seconds or less and it'll drop one of each type). Bulky Vendor loops between specific locations (sometimes you need to destroy background objects to force it out); if you can't find it, just keep following the list. Captain Admiral R 15 Posted November 2, 2014 Ah, the grind for synthesis materials was a pain in the original game, and it looks like it's even worse in the Final Mix version. Wonder how many hours it'll take me to 100% Proud Mode.
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) What I used was a translation guide online. No, NOT a patch for the PS2, that would kill your game. I'm talking about a listed guide that you read separately from the game. I remember always having to look back and forth between my game, my official strategy guide, and the printed translation guide. It was exhausting sometimes, but if you'd rather not just wait one more month for 2.5 to come out, the best option is to do just that. Find a good translation guide online (I recommend searching "kingdom hearts 2 final mix translation guide" and clicking the first link by GameFAQs and either print it out (lots of paper) or have it on your laptop and keep it close on hand while you play the game, get the official Kingdom Hearts 2 strategy guide if you don't have it already as it helps you compare between the game and the translation guide, and then just play through the game with both guides close in hand so that you may be able to refer to both when it comes to items and abilities. Eventually though, once you realize what the abilities are and what to call them, once you use them enough times, you'll get familiar with the characters of the word enough to eventually recognize which word that is and what ability name it is supposed to have. It's not the same as reading and understanding Japanese, it's more like looking at a picture of an apple and recognizing it as the word apple. I hope this helps you out in the same way it helped me. I have an english patched with every single letter like this: "ATTACK" "ONCE MORE"... in caps lock. It worked for an hour, but it began to crash on Port Royal. I swap between Japanese and English Patched versions just in case of skills and materials. You're probably looking for (one of) the Tranquil materials (the "yellow mushrooms"). I once saw Bulky on Agrabah, but after failing it and reloading the save, he was gone. Can't find him anywhere. Not in the Underworld, Christmas Town, Isla de Muerta and pretty much everywhere. Thanks for the Traquil hint.
Captain Admiral R 15 Posted November 2, 2014 lol Indeed, I'm not hardcore enough to 100% Critical Mode if that's what you're implying. =)

Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted November 3, 2014 Get a cheat disc: I know they have one for the English, and i'm pretty sure it'll work with the Japanese one as well. Then you can get the Ultima and not worry about it anymore.

Sigh, I just prefer to straight up use regular games and save myself all the trouble that goes into the hacking.
