Overwatch, Blizzard's new First Person Shooter IP.

Overwatch is their new IP and it just got announced. Here is two trailers for it.

It looks really really fun. A lot of people are saying it looks similar to Team Fortress. I'm so playing this when it comes out!

Yes! But you could see the difference between the Pixar style and Blizzards. It was subtle but it was there.

 

Also the gameplay looks awesome. Never been excited for an fps before. Oman I'm such a Blizz fanboy lol.

Blizzard usually take on a new genre is usually good. They take the genre, realize what makes it fun, and makes the fun points even funner. They always aim to make their games fun. So I trust them on this one.

 

It was also based off of a project they canceled called "Titan" which was a MMO. So it has something going for it.

As good as Blizzard are there is still the chance that the same is gonna happen again with Overwatch just like Destiny....so nope.I'll wait

As a long time Blizzard player I will definitely give this game a shot. The cinematic was really something else, of course though Blizzard never fail to disappoint with their cinematics.

 

Hopefully I can get into the beta next year to see how good it is. They didn't mention whether it'd be free-to-play yet (I don't think any ways) so I'm curious to see if it follows this model like their upcoming Heroes of the Storm. Of course though there's nothing stopping them from having it a retail game either.

 

I'm not much of a pew pew kinda guy but the gameplay does look like a lot of fun.

The game less focuses on narrative and more focuses on gameplay. Narrative will be told outside of the game, they hinted at comics or even animated episodes like above (hopefully). Its not going to be like Destiny at all.

Destiny's narrative aspect, which was part of the game, sucked. Its gameplay was fun though. Overwatch so far just looks like a game, with just gameplay. They'll give environmental story-telling like they did in their other games though.

 

If anything Destiny is more similar to Starcraft (which I never played) in terms of high sci-fi. Overwatch is just future earth.

I noticed this when watching an Overwatch speculation video about a new Hero (Sombra). There's this green tent thing in one of the maps shown in it and it has a Kingdom-Hearts-shaped heart symbol over it.

Well, Blizzard said that there wouldn't be a campaign mode. But there's gonna be comics and animated shorts. Besides, this is purely PvP Multiplayer.

 

BUT anything can be possible in the later future, like Expansions and Spin-Offs. So I doubt an Overwatch story mode would be completely disconsidered. I think there's still a chance of some sort.

Ah I see, I figured as much. I'm interested in the characters and all that, the animated shorts have been really cool, but despite being a Blizzard fan Overwatch just doesn't grab me from a gameplay perspective. I'll see how the gameplay and stuff fairs and maybe I'll pick it up later down the line, but none of my friends who I played WoW with or anything seem fussed about the game so I'm not gonna jump into a multiplayer-only game if I have nobody (but randoms) to play with

Yeah, dude, I love the characters and the world built around them. Anyways though, I've never paid that much attention to any of Blizzard's games, and I hadn't consider myself a strong Blizzard fan, but Overwatch truly catches my eye. I'm not too huge on FPS games, but this one seems to stand out a lot to me in the genre and it does look really fun

 

Oh, and also, they give you the option to go up against A.I. players instead of human players. Just a heads up
