RUMOR:A Remake of the Mother(Earthbound) series trilogy is being listed on Amazon?

This seems like a long stretch but Amazon has apparently put up a description for the February issue of Game Informer. What’sinteresting is the cover game is apparently Earthbound Forever. It seems pretty far-fetched but stranger things have happened in the past. The description says the game is coming to Wii U in 2016.

It also says that GameInformer will reveal it on the 262nd issue of their magazines

IT's still a rumor so take this with an extreme grain of salt until we see an actual confirmation

I for one hope that this is true but I won't believe it until I see an actual announcement

I mean the fact that the description says "we talk to the series creator" and that the discripron contains other information, then I think it looks promising... if nothing else, I give props to the troll who placed that there...

Huh

I mean it'll be cool if it happens

seems kinda weird to put it on Wii U though

I will skit bricks, I just bought the VC version and I love it so far, then Xenoblade came in an stopped me for a while lol. I look forward to seeing Gameinformer.

Why would it be weird to be on Wii U?Want it on Ps4 then?Earthbound started as a console series since Mother 1 on the NES and only Mother 3 was on the GBA.

It will be much better to remake the games in HD instead of just a remastered compilation

3ds makes more sense

Not really.I'd rather see an HD remake than just an upscale and 3D support.

Besides, what's been listed was a remake for all three games not just a remake of Earthbound that was on the SNES

How HD can you really make it? Earthbound has a really simple aesthetic

"Remake" is the keyword here.I never said upscale the SNES game to 1080p

Like the Gamecube Remakes of the first three Resident Evil games. They didn't just upscale the blocky Ps1 models but they remade everything

Earthboudn would look awful in 3D

and that makes this even less likely, Nintendo wouldn't put that kind of money into full remakes for three games. Look at the Zelda remakes on 3DS, and Zelda is Nintendo's second biggest franchise

You didn't even attempt to understand what I said.I never meant with 3D effects like ones on the 3DS

Remember how stages like Onett,Magicant and New Pork City looked in the Smash Bros series?Something like that but more polished.

Heck Ness has a model in HD so I don't think it's impossible to do so

Think of it how FF fans want the Final Fantasy 7 remake to be

Nope that's what I was referring to, I don't see how you interpreted it as 3D effects

full 3d remakes of three games is a huge undertaking. There needs to be guaranteed sales.

 Earthbound doesn't guarantee sales

Ness' model looks alright in Smash Bros, but it's nothing compared to the awesome sprite work in the actual games

and the clay style would look really bad too

Where exactly did I say Clay style?

You didn't

that's just a style I figured someone would mention if I didn't

Well they could go for something Wind Waker HD esque like Posted ImagePosted Image

Or they can take the SSB route like Posted Image

Both look good to me. Granted that these images are based on Mother 3 but still.

That'd be awesome especially on the Wii U,I hope its true

brawl looks muddy and weird. cel shaded one doesn't look like Earthbound

I don't see the issue. That'd be like saying the FFVII PS3 tech demo they showed didn't look like the Lego-style FFVII of it's 1997 original. Such is the nature of remakes, graphic/graphic styles change.

As for the brawl one, it's a shoddily done photoshop. It's just meant to give off a vague idea of how it could be done.

but the tech demo was aiming to improve an existing style, this is talking about translating a style to a completely different one

I could see it working with HD sprites, but again, I can't see Nintendo springing for that considering remaking the game rather than porting them would most likeyl ruin their chances of turning a profit

As amazing as this would be, I get a feeling it's not happening. Mother's a dead series with no signs of a revival. If this was planned, I'd think Lucas would be kept in Smash to promote the series.

Of course, I know I'll be excited anyway, and if it's announced this will be one of the best announcements of the gaming generation to me.

dead isn't really the word for it. they brought Earthbound to the virtual console, ad it sold fairly well, and they've referenced that fact is multiple Nintendo Directs

I imagine they're just trying to find the right way to appeal the the small but dedicated demographic

emulate Mother 3

it's not available in English and the fan translation even has the creator's blessing

I haven't heard of anyone at Nintendo necessarily approving of the translation.

EarthBound (Mother 2) is $10 on the Wii U eShop.

Nintendo itself hasn't, and I'm pretty sure legally they can't, but Itoi, the creator of Mother, gave it his blessing

I actually didn't know that. Do you have a source?
