THIS STUFF ISN'T ONLY IN JAPAN GUYS!

Posted

I've noticed around some reviews channels and let's players on youtube that.....whenever an explicit nudity or sexual content is presented in a Japanese made material like an anime or a JRPG they go and scream:JAPAAAAAAAAN or go complain about it for 5 minutes but when he witness the same stuff in a western made product like GTA,Dragon Age,Assassin's Creed.....etc they're completely fine with it...uhhhh.....am I the only one who notice this problem everywhere I go?

THIS STUFF ISN'T EXCLUSIVE TO JAPAN GUYS

I mean really, half the stuff we call Japan out on we actually ends up doing. So it's so vile and sexist for an anime or a JRPG to have a big breasted women yet it's completely fine to have hookers and naked women in games like GTA,Ride to Hell,Dragon Age,The Witcher.....?

I'm not accusing anyone here of something but some people do have double standards where it's fine if you do it but ooooh no it's a vile crime if someone else did it.

For every hentai out there, there is an equal share of porn movies and even sex shows.Heck I don't need to mention stuff like Jason Segel's Sex Tape movie or the other endless examples you can find out there.

Heck even shotacons like Boku no Pico has a western made equivelant.........this stuff isn't exclusive to Japan guys

every country in the world has it's own share of porn or sexual material even in the most religious countries out there you can find stuff like this if you looked hard enough.

I don't like generalizing something on one specific group when literally everybody is doing the same thing

Remember, whenever you raise a red flag on a showerbath scene in anime, remember that you've already seen a real one done by an actual actoractress.

Just sayin.......Look at yourself before you jump to conclusions on others

There were a few perverted Pokemon scenes that were censored, too, believe it or not.

I know. The Banned Pokemon Episodes video help me to discover those. The edits like the rice ball stuff are more common however.

Let me say that Pokemon specifically doesn't really need content like that though, if we're just talking about that.

To be fair, I think a lot of things don't really need that type of content, just like Pokemon doesn't. :/ It rarely has any sort of value, aside from attracting perverts to whatever's using the content.

So does this mean that MIchael Bay has been doing it right for years, and people should stop calling him out on it?

That's not what I mean. I'm saying Pokemon doesn't need it specifically because it is aimed at children and therefore doesn't have any reason for fan-service or anything like that.

Quite the opposite actually.

I will never understand why people complain about stuff like that. It's the most human aspect of humanity yet people bash it. If you don't like it then don't watch it, don't show to your children even who cares?

But hey, apparently killing and murder and blood all over the place is totally fine right? They are all a bunch of hypocrites if you ask me. I'm surprised Cindy didn't receive alot of backlash and while I'm happy she didn't, maybe I haven't been looking in the right places. Though I kinda don't want to, too tired of having arguments with people who just cover their ears and go "LALALALALALA".

What does this has to do with anything?

All I meant is the whole double standard thing. We shouldn't specify an accusation to one group when literally everybody is doing

As for the whole Michel Bay thing.....sure I hate Michel Bay but there are other directors that are just as bad as him if not worse....like M.Night Shyamalan

What I mean is don't just call out one group for one thing that literally you should've called out others before for it

If you wanna call out one, call out the other side  as well

Try to understand my point before replying please

That's sort of the point I'm making. There's been defenses in this thread that people just "don't get" the sexuality aspect in Japanese culture, and that it's taken a while in American culture for such things to be accepted. Yet, when American media does embrace the sexualization of the body to nearly absurd standards, such as Michael Bay does, then it is still considered a problem of objectifying people. I'm just curious why there is a double standard in that regard, with one being treated by the anime community as "art," while the the other is still considered sexploitation.

Michael Bay doesn't make art, though. He makes explosions.

One, you're letting a simple joke get to you.

Two, in most other countries, majorly North America, it's usually received by backlash. You can't have women run around with their breasts all out and about, showing off nudity of any kind. You can't get away with a majority of these things. Guns, blood, and gore are perfectly fine though.

When you usually hear someone say "Only in Japan," it's a joke. A joke because there's nothing more than a lighthearted gesture toward the show they're watching. If you take the context of video games out of this, it's even more different. In Japan, there's an entire genre dedicated to perversion. Ecchi isn't something you'll usually see outside of Japan. I don't know any western TV show entirely focused on the purpose of perverted humor. These shows usually involve a massive harem cast of girls filled with many different personalities, many different sizes, and filled with the ability to freely be in the nude, baring all that they can, all as the purpose of the show. Now, nudity isn't always a part of ecchi, but there's always the way Japan does things for these shows

Notable Ecchi Examples: To Love Ru, Highschool DxD, Hyperdimension Neptunia (along with anything NIS makes), Highschool of the Dead (You'd be lying if you told me this series was better than the big breasted women they flaunt on the cover of each manga volume.)

1I don't mean the joke alone I can get over that easily, there are people that take this way too seriously and heck I bet you even saw one of those people that might tell you that anime is the work of Satan.....which I don't get.

Some people rants for over 5 minutes the moment he see a display of skin in a Japanese game but doesn't give a firetruck when he see the same thing in a western game

Also,I already know what Ecchi is heck, one of my favorite animes called "Is This a Zombie" is a freakin ecchi so I'm already familiar with the term

As for the nudity thing.......you do know that naturists exist right?
