Do You Think Sony Will Ever Announce A Price Drop For PS4?

Posted

So recently, Microsoft has brung back the price drop deal from the Holiday Special sale (not sure if this will be a temporary price drop or permanent) do you think that Sony will do the same thing with the PS4 at some point?

Not any time soon. Maybe a sales price during income taxes.

Ever? Lol. Of course they will. Just don't expect one for awhile it only came out a year ago at a very cheap price.

very cheap price.

Debatable.

Debatable.

Selling it at a loss.

I'm sure the PS4 will experience a price drop.  As Sora96 explained, the PS4 is still recent, and to be fair, it did come with a good price, since when the PS3 first came out, it was on sale for 600 dollars, so consider that, and then look at the PS4's much more wallet friendly price, and Sora96 makes a good point.  I think that by the second half of 2016, we'll see the PS4 drop to at least 350 dollars, or maybe even 300.  Who knows? :)

Well... Hopefully they do for New Zealand and countries outside the USA. The RRP for a PS4 is $650, which converts to about US$500. I think ~$550 would be a good price for New Zealand.

I'm still holding out hope that the price will drop before KH3 comes out.  Maybe not this year, but maybe in 2016 sometime.

No dude lol they're already losing money for every PS4 sold. They're including parts worth more that the whole entire unit lol. For them to drop the price anytime soon would be a huge loss which they can not afford to risk.

I'm sure the PS4 will experience a price drop.

How can it experience a price drop... it's not an entity.

That's around the actual price of the PS4. If Sony had the price at $600 no one would buy it obviously.

In what way is a $100 drop profitible after merely 3 years? The price can NOT drop in at least 2-3 more years as it already costs less than it's worth.

Microsoft announced that the price drop is permanent.

Selling it at a loss.

that's not really uncommon among game consoles. Only Nintendo really avoids that. Price still comes down to what the consumer is willing to pay (and the PS4 is selling really well, so there won't be a price drop until that slows down)

They need to announce a price drop for the PS3 first. Been out for like nine years, it should be $100 or less by this point, PS2 was I think.

though if you really want to get it at a lower price just print some free PlayStation coupons according to the ad I got at the bottom of this page

Well...no...but it has gotten a price drop befire and the price for a new PS3 is good now. It's not that expensive to buy now.

It's not too expensive but the $250 price tag it has (per Amazon) is still a bit much for a system that's been around for almost a decade, especially since you can get its successor for just $150 more.
