In a recent interview with the Nikkei, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that Nintendo will be remaking more smartphone games on the Nintendo 3DS. Iwata added that the company will also be remaking old Nintendo games for the handheld. The games will be low-priced, going for a few hundred yen (a couple of bucks).

Thanks to Kotaku.

And when they say, remake I think they're serious. 3DS doesn't support Unity so porting is kinda hard for games that use it.

I wish they woulda given some examples. I really have no clue what to expect Nintendo to be interested in remaking; I'm not familiar with most mobile games.

(Also laughing at how snobby the Kotaku writer is being about it. Ugh, I hate their articles so much...)

That sounds pretty interesting. I wish we knew some of the games they plan on porting.

Completely agree with the point about Kotaku. It kinda reminds me of the whole, "all they do is make Zelda/Mario games, ugh Nintendo should go 3rd party so I can play Zelda/Mario on a proper console"

I fail to see the fixation on having Nintendo officially release titles on smartphones given that the 3DS is on the market. It sounds ridiculous especially given the whole smartphone craze in Japan as well as the 3DS being the go to handheld system in the region.

If people were really fussed about playing Mario on a phone then you can technically emulate the games in order to make them playable... Silly really.
