Story Overview

 

2015, the modern day. Your lives were everything you thought them to be just yesterday. Dreams, aspirations, work, friends. The day-in-day-out routine of modern life. There were things to be counted on every morning you woke up; the place you lived, the people you knew, the person you were. Today that all changed. You didn't wake up in your home, nor your town, nor your country. You woke up in The City, and today your life changed.

 

Skyscrapers dot the landscape in various sizes and shapes, and the crisscross of roads is reminiscent of most of the huge metropolises of the world, but there is something different about The City from any urban area you've ever seen; it's pure white, from the buildings to the roads to the parks, and it's entirely empty. Only a select handful of people appeared in The City this morning, but beyond that there is not a soul in sight. The shops are empty, the buildings abandoned, and the streets eerily quiet. There is however, a dark foreboding in the air, as if  something darker and more malevolent lurks just beneath the chalky pavement; waiting.

 

But you arrival here changed not only your surroundings, but you as well. The City is not simply a stagnant husk, for you have the ability to change it. You have been given, or discovered within yourself, an Ability of Creation. In small ways at first, and soon in greater amounts, you can change The City. Perhaps you have the power to morph bits of building and road into weapons, maybe you can change the streets into a vehicle to move around in, possibly you can form keys and badges to unlock hidden areas. Each Ability of Creation will differ and match the person from whom it derives. And not only can you create from the foundation of the city itself, but as you do, you change its very fabric. Where you build colors spring and spread to nearby buildings and sidewalks. And as you complete certain strange challenges spread around the various districts the effects of your actions bring even more life to the white empty world. Bit by bit you can begin to bring The City to life.

 

And as you all wake you receive a strange message that seems to resound from within your mind itself. It is a woman's voice, but there is an odd element about it you can't seem to pinpoint. Something... wrong you sense as her voice seems to whisper in your ear.

 

"Welcome to this place. The City. You have many questions I am sure, and I am sorry to leave you in such a state of mystery, but some things must be discovered with one's own eyes, and this City holds many truths you must discover. You have gained powers unlike any human has ever known; the ability to shift the very foundation of your reality and build anew from it. You must use this power to bring life to this blank metropolis, district by district, overcoming obstacles and coming to understand many harsh realities. I shall be your guide through this place. My name is Q, and I will show you the way.

 

Welcome to The City."

 

Whatever the reason you are in The City, you have the tools and desire to discover it, and oppose the forces that may seek to destroy you. And you shall have people to fight alongside - and possibly against- as well, and together you may discover the nature of The City, your powers, and the reason you were sent here in the first place.

 

Structure Overview

Skyline is an open-world roleplay about creation, discover, and companionship. Players will be brought into The City in various groups, and from there can consult a world map (which will be provided and constantly updated in the RP thread) and travel to different districts to overcome challenges there to bring The City to life and discover the truth about both the place itself and about themselves. All throughout several mysterious characters may come into play, slowly unraveling the truth as they interact with the players. Players are free to move to various districts in their groups and contest the various challenges at each area to further the story. They can also switch between groups if two happen to come in contact. Overall, as the City will come to life, the story will come to light.

 

Rules

 

-No over-powered abilities; keep your powers reasonable and in check. They can grows as you all get more powerful, but never so much that you can effortlessly overcome another player.

 

-No taking control of other players

 

-No explicit sexual content. Romance is totally fine.

 

-One character per-player (The point of this rule is to force a player to focus on the actions of a single character so all the characters have a lot of relevance)

 

-Only five posts per-person between every updating post I make (basically any time I post as an NPC or detail a challenge) This is just to make sure we don't have rampant over-posting.

 

-Keep out-of-character chat generally relegated to the Signup/Discussion thread to keep the RP thread mostly on-point.

Of course the power seems generic, but the use of it is what makes it stand out! The fact that you would need others help to gain more power is brilliant. You could easily just flow and create unique moves with this kind of power and that's what I like! There's not a single BAD Ability in this RP. They're all unique!

Well he'l probably copy Ailder's powers the potential in those are GOD DAMN HIGH!

 

Maxwell can't even do stuff like extremely quick combos and massive thunderstorms until end-game AND supercharged

Potential if you can handle it.

For one, like demonstrated, he has to focus his emotions to do anything right now. As such, anyone who hasn't got practice in the skill will have to do so as well. He eventually learns more control of the skill so he can access it without emotional power, but as such, copycats can't just replicate the ability and have it to the level of skill he would have with it.

 

And furthermore, it's also limited by a person's own limitations. If they cannot do certain things related to it, he won't be able to just do the next step. Right now he can change magnetic polarity and if an object is magnetic, if so how much, ect, phase through average objects (Stone, dirt, wood, ect), and the sort, and minor matter manipulation (Giving objects less density, more density, that sort). From here Ailder will develop all his powers through practice and development of combining all his other skills into combinations of attacks or techniques developed by him. Outside of his specialty attacks and mastering of the skills, a copy can't do anything more than what Ailder is doing right now.

Speaking of Son Yuki.....What do you think of him?

He's pretty cool himself, I like him!

 

His powers are interesting as well and he has a cool personallity, a really fun-loving easy going character is always cool to have around.

 

While I play Maxwell as the serious dude who doesn't give a damn about anything your character is pretty cool!

I feel the power is pretty original. It changes the way things react with each other. 

 

Need to defuse a bomb? Just make the ingredients combine into something safe like milk.

 

He could, in theory. In advanced format, he can also make water more sensitive to lighting and in combo with Yuki will deal some major damage.

That would be awesome!

 

I was thinking if Yuki and Max could do a team attack! Son Yuki could hold a Sun Orb and Max could use his electricity on it to make a powerful attack! Sun Shokku! :lol:

Well water is a open electric current but with no destination whatsoever is maxwell got hit by water he wouldn't really be damaged, but he wouldn't be able to do anything while soaked, although his body heat is higher than normal due to the constant attrition of electric cells on his body, it would dry it quick.

 

If Aldier could change the water to make it a controllable current, then Maxwell could make extremely good use of it, for example if he is soaked with said modified water he'd be able to keep himself Super charged for a much longer period of time by sheer electrecution and absorbtion of it.

 

 

Well it'l depend, Kingdom, Yuki'd sun orb is pretty much fire, and Maxwell is neutral to that maximum he can do is throw a good portion of electricity at it and it would blow up with fire and electricity,

 

a good team attack though would be if Yuki made an extremely powerful electric cloud around Maxwell, he'd be overcharged and would keep the electric cloud going doing huge damage to surrounding enemies and allowing Maxwell do his normal super charged moves, like a Thunderstorm, which would be even more powerful with said cloud.

I meant more like the water is made more conductive, then have Yuki rain down on them and send a thunderbolt at them. It's not necessary to force hit if you can aim for it. And assuming we're using this attack, I'm doing melee to hold them off so you can call a shot.

Ability of Creation: Vision

 

In a sort of way, Jay is a copycat: what he sees that isn't necessarily developed in the City, he can remember and then replicate their properties. It depends on the creations of other characters instead of deriving from himself.

 

Age: 19

 

Gender: Male

 

Appearance:

 

 

 

Personality: Jay was never the "goody two-shoes", and never pretended to be. If he was gonna do something, it's 'cause he wanted to. Usually a hard head, he'd only spend his listening time towards others when there was a problem he could fix. Don't be fooled by his cold exterior - he's a bit of a softie on the inside, and holds a secret that he won't forget.

 

Background: Jay grew up alone, ate alone, and did almost everything he wanted to do from afar. He made his life savings by selling off pieces of art he drew around his city, and painted, sculpted, played music, and created poems. His artistic mindset, even when asked to join groups or even professional teams, thrived when he was left to himself, which was what he did. He'd only help those who he thought were in dire need of it, such as school fights that got too brutal or stick-up robberies, with wit and awareness of his surroundings.

 

Accepted. but definitely watch out to not make that ability too overpowered. Perhaps only being able to hold onto one other power at a time or having diminished power from the people he's replicating. Having everyone else's power at full strength wouldn't be fair so just keep aware of that. I'm about to make an update post int he RP thread so I will add you in then.

Hey MDS, do dolls count as sentient life, or organic at all? I'm asking this, because Aro could very well use her powers to absorb parts of the doll and use it back on it, but I would like to know if it is classified as sentient, seeing as one of my limits for Aro's ability is being unable to harm life.

If not, I still have plenty of alternate methods that can still be used.

Thanks! I explained a bit later that since he's like a jack-of-all-trades, the power will be unique and slightly weaker (think Delsin Rowe from inFAMOUS if anyone has ever played that)

Ability of Creation: Able to use the environment to create horrific creatures and myself too.

 

Age: 19.

 

Gender: Male.

 

Appearance: A teen with black, glossy hair. And wearing a suit.

 

 

Personality: Funny mostly. Very serious when problems arise.

 

Background: A simple teen from New York. His Parents are MIA. Grew up in a foster home. Moved out when 17. Started working as lawyer. Discovered powers when 12. Accidentally killed a friend when showing off these powers. Hid the body by feeding it to the dogs.
