February 23, 201510 yr Author has anyone ever tried Japanese kitkats? Bask in their glory. All sorts of flavors: Melon, Strawberry Cheesecake, WASABI!, Green Tea, Apple, Azuki (sweet bean paste) and many more.
February 23, 201510 yr Author This week's Menu: Noodles. Endless varieties throughout the islands, each region with their variation and a different name of the same dish, noodles are everywhere in Japan. The widely known Ramen itself has so many variations I can't even. I'll be posting a different noodle dish each day. Monday's Dish: Udon. A slightly more thick type of noodle is used in Udon. As in all of these types of dish, the soup is very important. It's made of dashi (stock made from fish and kelp), shoyu and mirin ("rice wine for cooking"). Depending on the topping used on the noodles, the name can change, for example, if you put a mochi in the Udon, it will be Chikara Udon. Simplest form of Udon: Chikara Udon: Tenpura Udon:
February 23, 201510 yr YES! OHMIGOODNESS! ive tried most of those before! the pancake one weirded me out my favs are vanilla ice cream, strawberry, melon, and chili pepper
February 24, 201510 yr Author Forgot to mention: Noodles and Tea must be had with a SLURP. MAKE THE NOISE. Tuesday's Dish: Hiyashi Chuuka. Common noodles with varied toppings, my favorite being ham, omelette and cucumber. It's then poured with a cold sauce made of shoyu, sugar, vinegar and sesame oil. Served mostly in the summer, it's very refreshing and also my favorite summer dish. Edited February 24, 201510 yr by SkyKeybladeHero
February 24, 201510 yr I've actually been looking for a japanese cookbook...but in english. I've been unable to find one so far, so, er, if anyone knows of any, let me know? Also any recipes I'd love, especially for dishes with rice and chicken (if any). I wonder if I'd be firetrucked if I went to Japan because I don't eat seafood?
