So I have these 4 KH music pieces, 2 pairs of which both sound very similiar. HOWEVER, I can't decide which one is best...

Well, I can't really say much for the first pair because I literally can't tell the difference so I'll pick critical drive because it sounds clearer, to me at least.

 

For the second pair, I will definitely pick L'impeto Oscuro.

I like Critical Drive better I think, though the difference is very slight, and it may be mostly due to sound quality that I picked my answer.

For the second one, I think I prefer Dark Impetus. I think the higher pitch gives it a little bit more energy that L'impeto Oscuro lacks. For example, from 1:28 onward LO's violin is lower than DI's, and that takes something away from the song.

Also Dark Impetus is my absolute favourite battle theme.

Oh, these are very excellent musical choices!  For the first choice, I have to say that Critical Drive sounds pretty good!  As for the other choice...

^This awesome gentleman right here has answered the question beautifully!  I mean seriously, Dark Impetus is insanely badass,(and I prefer it over L'Impeto Oscuro.) and L'Impeto Oscuro is also amazing, but...combine the two, and you have an eargasmic masterpiece! X_X  Ah, Yoko Shimomura, you make such beautiful music! :')

Critical Drive (though, there's little to no difference) and Dark Impetus are the top two, in my opinion. Wonderful pieces, regardless. ^.^

Well actually if you have headphones in there's quite a difference between Deep and Critical Drive, for instance Critical includes a Violin and the drop is less intense and kinda more dreamy (if you can call it that) than Deep. Hmm For L'Impeto it's good but I kinda find the lack of energy in it offputting whilst Impetus is incredibly invigorating. I do however like how minimalist L'Impeto is though, gives it a really cool sense of badassery and darkness.

Crit Drive is more cleaner in a way while DD is more serious in a sense. I give it to Crit for more entertaining.

 

MF battle theme wins, the beginning gets me every time.
