We took a short hiatus this summer and will be starting up again with a slightly fresh start.  Events have already taken place, but I'll happily provide a recap for those who would like to join back up again.  During our hiatus we have a lot of the same cast, but have also lost a couple of very special players in like.  If you're interested in joining we'd love to have you!  Please review the rules and post your character sheet.  Thanks!

 

This RP was inspired by Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Once Upon a Time.  After Vanitas enacted a curse, all characters--villains and heroes alike--were sent to the real world where they lived new lives, without even a single memory of their past selves.

 

It all started when the heroes were trying to prevent Ultimecia from casting this curse, leading them to break into her castle . . . .

 

“Is this it?” Lightning bent over and examined a scroll tied with a red ribbon on a pedestal in Ultimecia’s tower.  The wind roared around them, blowing the curtains rapidly, the dim gray sunset casting whatever little light existed within the room.  Locke walked over to her, taking the tiny scroll from her hands and examining it.  Eventually he nodded.  “It must be.  Yen Sid told us that it would be here.”

 

“But what do we do with it?” Lightning inquired.  But before Locke could answer, the doors to the tower burst open, and in strode Ultimecia.  The tall woman’s eyes casually swept the room, meeting the two heroes’ gazes unflinchingly.

 

“Well, well,” she said, drawling, “it looks like the savior and the treasure hunter failed their friends after all.  You didn’t expect me already, did you?”

 

Both Lightning and Locke looked at each other.  The scroll remained in Locke’s fist, but there was no use hiding it: Ultimecia already knew it was there.  The sorceress sent Lightning flying into a wall with an aerial spell as she proceeded on to the poor thief.  “Now then, I will give you options.” She looked mercilessly into his eyes, her cold ones bearing down into his.  “Either you can give me the scroll without a fight, or I could kill that one first”--she smiled ruefully--”whichever calls out to you most.”

 

“Think again, lady!”

 

Locke let out a rattled breath of relief, looking over Ultimecia’s shoulder.  She whipped around to see Ventus, grinning widely, the mini scroll clenched in his fist.  The woman rose, turning to Ventus stonily.  “Be careful with that, boy.  You’re meddling in very dark magic that you don’t know how to control.”

 

“Well, lucky for you”--the boy’s grin widened, and for a moment his eyes flickered golden--”I actually do know how to use this dark magic.  And unlike these dufuses, I’m not afraid to use it.”

 

Suddenly everyone’s heart sank within the room.  Lightning slowly rose, groaning as she extended a hand toward their ally.  “Ven--”

 

The boy laughed, a merciless cold laugh that sent chills down her spine.  “Guess what, Light?  I’m not Ven.  I  never was.  It was all too easy to use you guys to get me into this place, and now, now I have what I want.”  He tore off the red ribbon and unrolled the scroll, his eyes skimming it longingly.  “Now I finally get to go home.”

 

“Not how you think!” Ultimecia shouted.  “It’s darker than you could even imagine.  It will take you to that world, yes, but you will lose everything to do it.”

 

Again the boy smiled, shaking his head.  “That’s the point: I don’t have anything to lose.”

 

With that, he unrolled the scroll and blew on it, sending its words off the page and into the room.  A cloud of smoke infiltrated the air, and for a moment all was perfectly still.

 

But only for a brief moment, before chaos struck.  The winds picked up, almost to the point that it caused the Ven-look-alike to lose his balance.  It threw Locke off his feet and knocked Lightning back into the wall, now unconscious.

 

“What’s happening?!”  Locke demanded, glaring from the boy to Ultimecia.  The sorceress clutched her chest, eyes downcast and breathing hard.

 

“Everything . . . will be stripped of us.  Our homes, our memories.  Everything that matters.”

 

Before another word could be uttered, a clap of thunder roared, and this is where you are, and where you’ve been for as long as you can remember:

 

Destiny Beach.

 

You live in a city located alongside the coast of Florida.  You’ve been here for as long as you can remember, and you cannot remember a thing beforehand.  However, you don’t even notice that you don’t remember, nor do you care.  Everything is how it’s always been, and magic is nothing more than a fantasy.  Some of you are now doctors, shopkeepers, secretaries, teachers, and some of you still can’t find your place in the world.  Everything stayed this way for a time, until the boy who could unlock the secret--and the spell--arrives on Destiny Beach.

 

For a few rules:

 

1.) No Godmodding (this includes controlling or killing another person's character)

2.) No speedhacking (don't land blows on another person's character until they respond, et cetera)

3.) Follow the RP rules and guidelines stickied to this forum

4.) No duplicate characters (meaning two people can’t be Sora, et cetera)

5.) Pairings and romance are fine, but no yaoi or yuri, please

6.) Keep everything PG-13.  I can understand some swearing and violence every now and again, but no explicit scenes, gore, sexual themes, or language that needs this @#$%! done to it. : P

7.) Please be sure that your posts contain a minimum of four lines.  I won’t bite anyone if they do it once in a while, but short posts are difficult to work with and it means more work for the other players communicating with that player.

 

Now, for the characters: you may choose up to three Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts characters, provided that they play a significant role in the series (like, well, don’t choose the unnamed bartender) and that they aren’t already taken.  As character roles fill I will be listing them in this main thread here, so please be sure to refer to it before creating any character sheets. There will be some special roles for certain characters that I will outline and guide through the RP (Sora, Vanitas, Lightning, Ventus, Locke, and Ultimecia, to name a few), but beyond that it’s pretty free reign.  Please fill out the character sheet below:

When I said Vantias firetrucked up majorly, I damn well meant it.

 

And I haven't had that much fun writing a post like that in a long, long time.

I stand corrected.  I guess he's not swinging by. : P  Great post, Sabre, though I can't help but feel that it was a little speedhacked because Vanitas had no chance to retaliate by any means when, truth be told, the teen probably would've gotten out of Xion's way, grabbed her wrist and broke her arm.  I don't think he would've been completely helpless to let that happen.  Let's leave it as-is, I guess, though I kind of wish Vanitas had the chance to do *something* rather than look like a helpless idiot.

My only question would be this: Where did this sudden bravery come from? You characterized Aeria as really quiet and shy, and definitely not so brazen as to do that. I have no problem with, and was expecting development like this eventually, but it seems rather sudden considering O haven't seen any like, traumatic incidents or inspiring events that would cause a sudden change like this.

 

As it is now, it just seems out of character.

Well, he's not "powerful" here. But my view of it was honestly...why would he expect her to snap? He's abused her theit entire relationship to the point of suicide, I didn't think he'd ever think of retaliating. Even if she was in a headlong sprint there's no indication of attack...yet. if he had been a better boyfriend he might have known... anyways.And uh...if he broke her wrist/ankle during her roundhouse kick, he'd be going to the hospital after Lightning shot him for it.Anyways, Xion had pure surprise. If she ever does snap or get a backbone that lasts more than a single roundhouse kick and some empty threats, I don't expect Vanitas to go down.Essentially it's Xion wins a single battle, but Vanitas is still stacked against her for the war.

Yeah, Aeria didn't think before attacking. That's the huge downside to that...

A little off-topic, but I just saw The Dark Swan episode of OUAT.  Here are my thoughts:

 

The episode was fantastic, though everything was too fast-paced.  I felt that things needed a bit more spacing than they had, but I guess they're trying to cover a lot of ground to get the season rolling.  It was great to see Emma battle her darkness at the first stages, and I really enjoyed Dark Emma's nature.  All-in-all I think it was a great opening to the series, but I'm iffy on Merida. : P

 

 

Also . . . . (major spoiler for potential OUAT episodes from directors):

 

Has anyone heard that Belle's actress is expecting?  They're thinking about integrating that into the plot, so that should be interesting.  I'm guessing this means that Rumple lives, though I was half-expecting this anyway.

 

 

More on-topic now, I'm thinking to give an update that will set the plot in further motion, since we seem to be slightly at a standstill now.  I'll probably do so by Monday.

For those of you who may be struggling to catch up, would like to join, or just need a recap, here's a bit of what's occurring now.

 

People are starting to get deja vu moments.  Since Sora arrived on Destiny Beach the curse has weakened, and all sorts of strange things are beginning to happen.  One being that people are starting to have moments where they feel they were in another life, but it's not drastic enough to know for sure.  Lightning and Roxas are particularly starting to receive more flasbhacks and memories, partly because each one of them are special.

 

It is Xion's birthday, and Lightning got the day off to celebrate.  Vanitas shows up at their home, makes a scene, and Xion manages to knock him on his butt.  Lightning then arrests him, which is where we stand currently.  Lightning is now calling Sophie, who I'm assuming is Sophia/Aqua.

 

Speaking of Aqua, Sora has been staying with her since he arrived in town.  That morning, however, Shadows began attacking her apartment, causing Aqua and Sora to flee the scene.  They're around the car and being attacked by Shadows.  Strangely, though, no one else could see them if neighbors caught sight of this.

 

Meanwhile, Auron has just decided to purchase a birthday present for Xion.  However, Shadows have begun to infiltrate his apartment, and boy are they making a mess of things.  Again, Auron can see them, but not just anyone can.

 

Roxas is missing from the group home.  He was drinking behind a dumpster only to be rescued by Riku who took him home.  Remembering it's Xion's birthday, however, Roxas doesn't rest for long before heading to Tyro's shop to purchase Xion's birthday necklace.  When he gets there, however, the pawn shop has been ransacked.  Tyro is surprised to discover his store like this, and offers Roxas a discount if he helps clean it up.

 

Tifa, I believe, is currently in the bar.  I don't know where Zack and Noel are, however.  I'm assuming Zack is at Gamestop, as is Locke, but I'm not sure.

 

Kefka was rather unhappy that his home had been broken into.  Nothing was missing, but it was enough to anger the man.  After school that day, however, he picked up a rose and asked Terra out to dinner, to which she agreed but is waiting on Yuffie to return.

 

Meanwhile, Zidane and Yuffie are out on a date by the beach.  The new journalist in town, Ultimecia, is very enthused about speaking to Zidane, and has asked Terra countless times about Zidane.  Further, Ultimecia proceeds to call Terra "Miss Branford," her original surname before the curse.  Ultimecia has intentions, that is for sure, one of which would be to kill the savior as soon as she finds him or her, as well as put an end to Yeul.  Yeul had arrived in the B&B the night prior, and Caius, who is guised as her brother, meets her in the inn and they discuss their current predicament.  Yeul is determined to get to Lightning, and soon, feeling the need to convey information to her.

 

Not much is happening with Cloud, except that he is starting to be on the mend and will leave the hospital soon.  Lumina is getting ready for work after having visited Snow, her good friend.  Meanwhile, Balthier and Rikku are working together to fix the Magitek Armor suit that Kefka and Balthier found along the beach.  Balthier gets called away, however, when Vanille's car breaks down.  Currently Balthier is going to be towing her truck when Vanille hops into his passenger's seat and begins calling Snow to rescue her.

 

Now I think that's about everything.  I apologize if I'm missing something, and if so please let me know and I'll try to correct it.

thanks! I've been wanting to use that Serah has N7 armor in something for a while now, and this seemed to be a good place to stick it in.I'm good with Elysia's training and getting Clara a gun. I think fits well. It'll be fun to play the interactions between Aeria and Clara.

Hey, Shard, a quick question: is Nicole arriving at Auron's apartment?  Is it the darkness of the Shadows that she smells?  I wasn't sure if that's where you were heading with that or not.  If so, that would be a very interesting idea, one that I'd enjoy seeing, but if not it's no problem either.  I was just curious.

Yeah, I just didn't say it was his apartment (since Nicole doesn't know whose apartment it is.)And yes darkness is the smell, which is why it was appearing and reappearing in random places. (As long as it's not a problem, I mean)

No, that sounds great!  I was hoping you were going in that direction with it, actually.  I was just wanting to double-check, especially since I didn't know if Scrap knew that Nicole was knocking on Aron's apartment door.

I will first have auron grab a baseball bat and then open the door. But whatever is in that locker is getting homerun'd.
