Of course, I don't know what Namura has in store for us, but I'm pretty sure that we will get more of DI in KH3. :)

I agree with this; it'd be nice to see more of the islands that Sora and Co. love so damn much. Plus it'd be cool as hell to have the final boss fight happen there, where both Sora and Xehanort were born and raised.

(Also seeing some actual adults would be nice, given that it's an entire firetrucking town with a school and everything.)

Unless they have something to contribute to the story, might as well leave all the adults in The Void.

Oh yes, I am also very desperate to see the whole island area!  I'm pretty sure Nomura will have the entire world of Destiny Islands be open to exploration!  Because come on, who doesn't want to roam the entire island!!!??? :D

They NEED to have the whole world explorable! I want to see what's so great about Destiny Islands. See Sora's and the gangs home, where he grew up.

It's just kind of ridiculous to establish that Sora, Riku and Kairi all have families and there's a school that they all go to, and we never get to see any of that. Why bring it up in the first place?

Because it's better than just saying that they just appeared out of nowhere and do nothing else in their homeworld except goof off on their play island.

That doesn't mean we need a in-depth study on their families and home lives. Forget that noise, let's go hang out with Mickey and pals.

I'd like that too, but it seems like the final battle will be in the Keyblade Graveyard.Maybe it could be like Twilight Town where we visit early in the game (though i's liek the actual starting point to be Mysterious Tower playng the tutorial as Lea and Kairi) then get locked out off it for a while and regain access late in the game and use it as the initial access point for Keyblade Graveyard.Sora also still needs to seal the Keyhole there.

Uh, no he doesn't.

I would honestly prefer that they just appeared out of nowhere. It's a series full of bullshit magic, who cares? Besides, I'm not asking for an in-depth study, I just wanna see the firetruckers. And why not just make them orphans? At least then they wouldn't have parents that are supposed to worry about them and it's easy to forgive not showing their caretakers.

I really hope it isn't the Keyblade Graveyard, BBS already got a lot of mileage out of that (plus the Lingering Will fight). If not Destiny Islands, then hopefully an actually new locale for KH3; I don't want the game to be a bunch of rehashing.

Can't we just assume they're like the parents in Peanuts and don't give a damn? lol This is Kingdom Hearts, not "JRPG Family Issues".

Well, Peanuts is a newspaper comic strip centering around family friendly gags, and Kingdom Hearts is a 3D game series that puts a lot of focus on story and characters, so kudos on your analogy skills.

And why does it have to be issues? Why can't we just have a scene where Sora's mom is waving goodbye or whatever? Plus we've already seen Kairi's grandma, so why not her mom or dad? It's just weird to reference characters that we never get to see once, ever.

Screw you. xD

Okay, seriously now and on topic: I get what you mean, Kairi's Grandma is only relevant because her story to Kairi is an analogy for the beginnings of the universe and the Keyblade War. Other than that, it could have just been a story that Kairi read out of a book at a young age. You see my point? Unless they actually need be seen, why show them at all. These types of characters can't show up for the sake of showing up, they need a reason to be important enough for use to see them in-game.

That's the thing though- why couldn't Kairi have just read it in a book? Why did it have to be her grandmother? Why did they have to introduce parents and family in the first game (and BBS) and then never introduce them?

And one could easily argue that the fact they've been referenced is reason enough for them to be seen in-game. They're teenagers, two of which had been missing for over a year, another of which suddenly disappeared one day (in the middle of a school year, no less) and even after they come home, they leave again. What sort of twisted reality do they live in where that kind of stuff goes on, and no one over the age of 16 can ever be bothered to show up about it? I mean, look at Pokemon- parents are almost always nonessential, inconsequential even, but at least one of them is firetrucking there. At least you can go home and see that your mom actually exists.

(To be fair, a lot of this does tie in with me wanting to see actual NPCs in worlds to make them feel more interactive, and if we're assuming Destiny Islands will at any point be playable, then shit, why not their parents?)

Becaaaaaaaaause t's just how it is. Take it or leave it. Too late to change it now.

Yeah, but its not like any of their problems stem from being away from their parents for so long. And its not like we have a reason to care about their parent's feelings because... they're barely even characters at all. xD

(I've gone on about the idea about seeing more NPCs, but again, if they're just gonna be set pieces, that kinda defeats the purpose. Either make them somewhat relevant or just don't go through with it.)

But it's not too late to change it now, they could very easily put them in KH3. See? Problem solved.

(Also dude, have you ever played any kind of RPG before? Almost every NPC is useless- just like real life. Most people you meet on the street are totally useless to you. Given that they're working on some of the most advanced hardware in game history, it's reasonable to expect a few more NPCs, even if they are just flavor. Flavor makes things tastier, and I want KH3 to be a very tasty game.)

I meant the Grandma's story, not the parents.

(... Okay, first off, don't talk in food analogies, you'll make me hungry. lol And I meeeeeeeant that they should hold some relevance to the story inside of just being there to prove "Hey, guess what? Sora and Riku were conceived by a man putting his Keyblade in a woman's keyhole". What, are we just gonna walk up to them and they'll say "Why are you kids always leaving the islands for years on end"? Granted, that might make for a funny gag scene, but if that's the build up for us asking to see them for more than a decade, then screw it. Don't show them at all. It's a waste of time.)

Well, it doesn't have to be a gag, they could actually have a well-written scene where Sora explains to his mom why he has to do what he's doing, and it could be very emotional and moving and pffhaha nah, parents don't matter, who the firetruck cares about family, amirite?

Really though, from a writing perspective, there's some things you just can't ignore- these characters had to come from somewhere, and it's already established they all have parents, so if Destiny Islands is playable in any way other than a set piece, it'd be insulting to not include their parents.

Again, I'm fine with that if it actually goes somewhere with the whole "leaving the island" thing, or even if they participate to help them solve a problem on the islands, but if they're just gonna stand there, say "hi" and maybe "come home soon after your next journey", then blegh.

Uh, no he doesn't.

But he hasn't sealed it yet. It's heart is still vulnerable

See the thing with Keyblade Graveyard is that it seems to be the only place the x-Blade can be forged, and that's what Xehanort is after

Is it? I can't remember anyone explicitly saying that the X-blade has to be forged there, just that Xehanort chooses it for various reasons (his obsession with the Keyblade War, it where Vanitas was created, etc.) And if that is how it works, then all the heroes have to do is stay the firetruck away from the Keyblade Graveyard, and boom, Xehanort's plans are ruined. That makes it seem way too easy to beat him.

Besides, even if that is how it works, the final fight can still take place somewhere else- they warp to another world or several worlds like the Xion fight in Days, or they enter the true Kingdom Hearts, or something like that.

That wouldn't work either. Remember, if the GoL don't show up, he'll just go after the Princesses of Heart and take them to the Keyblade Graveyard.

Well, once they get Aqua back, they could just hide the Princesses of Heart in the Chamber of Waking, since apparently no version of Xehanort can ever figure out where that is. Problem solved.
