Square Enix's Life is Strange should put Dontnod Entertainment on the map

Posted

The Square Enix published five part episodic series Life is Strange developed by Dontnod Entertainment is a quiet hit by this young French studio. 3 of the 5 episodes have been released so far and are all available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 & PC.

The story in this is top notch, as others have described it's like an indie movie but as someone who doesn't watch indie movies or play episodic games I can say I'm still fully enjoying this.

Being able to rewind time and see events play out in different ways can be quite exciting and sometimes you might want to keep it doing in order to decide which one you really want.

Finding all the optional photos is a lot of fun, especially since you get plenty of trophies for doing so.

The gameplay isn't too challenging but some parts may take a little longer than others.

The indie soundtrack suits the game perfectly.

After the first episode I felt this was good so I'll keep going. After the second episode I was like wow, this is actually really good. And now after the third episode I'm in shock, the ending is truly massive. You'll feel things after playing these episodes.

I am now left wanting more, I really want to see what happens next. Do yourself a favour and play all 3 episodes before they release episode 4.

Well Dontnod already made Remember Me, which was released by another AAA publisher (Capcom), so I'd say they're already on the map, but yeah Life Is Strange looks really cool.

Do the episodes leave a lot of cliffhangers like the Telltale episodic games tend to do? Because if so, I'd probably just wait until they're all released and then pick it up; I hate cliffhangers.

On Episode 3 now. I'm finding myself wanting to do multiple playthroughs to see what happens - the amount of choices in this game is massive, and not a single one so far has been overlooked.

This game was not a regret. If anyone really has this on their wishlist or wonder if it's worth it...

It's firetrucking worth it. 20 bucks, five episodes.

Saber Lily Seal of Approval.

Episode 1 was kind weak, episode 2 was a big improvement, episode 3 was fantastic

I highly recommend giving it a try

That said, given the mediocre reviews of that game, it's more like BACK on the map =PBut yeah, they're good. I'm glad they got another shot past Remember Me, though I hope they don't just stick to story games from now on and instead try other genres too.

Remember Me is a perfect example of massive potential, expertly squandered

if it had been done in the style of Life is Strange, it could've been great

I wouldn't call it a cliff-hanger but you will feel things. Haha.

I was literally thinking that the whole time while playing Remember Me.

I just got mindfiretrucked guys.

10/10 Episode 3: Chaos Theory has a crazy cliffhanger.

If you aren't playing it, you can buy all 5 episodes (2 are preorder) for 19.99. this has the Saber Lily Seal of Awesome. If this doesn't put Dontnod on the map in a good way, then nothing can.
