Welcome to the 40+ hour long hallway with 90% of the plot happening behind your back in the datalog

I always hear this

I've never read the datalog and never really had an issue with the plot (besides the obvious issues with how the plot is presented)

is there really THAT MUCH more story to 13?

Everything regarding the mythos about Cocoon,Pulse, the SanctumPulse Fal'cies and most of the stuff that would get referenced in the later two games are within the datalog....heck even sometimes characters don't even show their actual emotions until you read the inner thoughts they had which are in the datalog(most noticably Lightning)

Most of the stuff you'd need to know about this world and the overall mythos that previous games told naturally in cutscenes, exposition and NPCs are hidden in the game's own version of wikipedia

If you never read any of it you basically missed 90% of the whole thing

sounds like flavour text to me

sure the stuff comes up in the later games, but it's explained up front in those

No it's not flavour text, some of this stuff actually gives you a better understanding of what's going on in the game

It doesn't make the writing of the game any better but at least it'll be less confusing

Some of the terms can be hard to understand at first but overall the trilogies story is fine to understand.

I've tried doing another recording, but the frame rate of the game keeps dying the moment I get to Snow. Keeping in mind that I'm playing this on PC, does anyone know what the best way is to fix this?

all you can really do it lower the resolution or in some way downgrade the performance, or try new recording software
