FF7 Remake Discussion (kinda?)

Posted

I've been thinking about the FF7 remake and looked at some quotes and stuff. I've read that this isn't going to be a simple remake with updated graphics and that they want to remake the whole thing to meet modern standards (I'm guessing this includes gameplay changes?)

Do you guys think that this might be a sequel? Or am I just crazy? xD

I mean the trailer talked about some people coming back and whatnot. So maybe this isn't the same game? Just thinking aloud ahah

It's definitely a remake and it will probably have the same basic storyline as the original

The changes I think they're talking about would probably involve the battle system and adapting the story a bit to fit in with the rest of the ff7 compilation like crisis core of before crisis

I'm curious to see whether or not they'll stick to turn based gameplay, while I wouldn't mind them keeping it the idea of each character having their own movesets and combos just seems really awesome to me and actually makes me more excited for it then the turn based system I've already played

On the other hand, if they don't keep it turn based the Internet will have a fit over it, at the end of the day no matter which battle system they choose people will complain about it, there's really no winning for them

Personally, I would be happy either way so it's win-win for me! :D

I'd think this is a remake of VII, not a sequel or a reboot by any means. We saw Cloud with the original buster sword and saw them walking near a reactor, possibly about to terrorize it.I'm not too big on 7 so I don't really care what they change as long as it's not something that breaks the overall story. I don't mind what kind of gameplay it has, and ideally I'd prefer it to be an option of turn-based and action like Dissidia. I'd be lying if I said I din't want to play as Cloud kicking ass like Dante, but I also know that nostalgia and nods to the original version of the game are good, so I'm mixed about gameplay. And I prefer to think that the narrator was talking to us. We all remember the comet (Jenova) and Cloud's party and we're fond of the memories, and finally now the promise of a remake is made. Or the guy is talking in a past tense as if he's telling the story of Cloud and co. to his children and that's who we're hearing.

Well it says remake. So it's a remake :D I'm worried about the Battle System tho.

Actually nevermind.....

IF there is a Remake of "Final Fantasy 7" coming, I HOPE they do not include the Honeybee Inn segment.  Not only was it inappropriate in the original, but it also could make the remake have an "M" Rating.  I will NEVER play it if it gets an "M" Rating!!

This is going to be a remake of the original FF7.

I'm kind of curious to see how people will react when they show some gameplay footage. They are most likely going to change a lot of things, especially the battle system. I can already see hardcore FF7 fanboys bitching and whining about how SE has ruined FF7 or something like that.

I personally want them to upgrade the battle system. I think the current system is too outdated to work well in a full 3D remake. But I'm fine either way.

Not that I've ever played FF7 before, but if it's optional (as the wiki says), then nothing's forcing you to go there...

At first I thought it might be a squel, but as soon as it said REMAKE, I changed my mind.

Anyway, the previous gameplay was really good. It could be improved, but I wouldn't like it to be completely changed (remove the turn base system)

One thing I'm hoping to see is a fight against one-winged Sephiroth, before fighting Bizarro Sephiroth, at some point of the game.

the trailer dialog made it sound like a sequel

but then suddenly

remake

I also got the sequel vibe from the narration. Maybe the remake was a good way to get people reinvested in the story before going for a sequel? Maybe it has the additional purpose to gadge people's interest?

personally I think it'd make more sense if they moved away from turn-based combat and into something more similar to FFXV (or at least more real time). In my opinion, I just feel like turn-based combat wouldn't work in a remake of this stature
