Seriously, the Tales Of games are a lot like the Final Fantasy games except they feel a bit more..Japanese compared to most FF games (which isn't a bad thing). I mean they both have similiar concepts and each new installment of the two series always have a new universe/mythology/lore. I mean the only cool thing that the Tales games have over FF games are the cameo battles where you fight other Tales protagonists from the other Tales games. Anyone else think they both feel completely similiar to each other?

Indeed! I have a deep love for both of them.

yea i've gotten similar vibes from both series. its nice how the entries are usually stand alone so you can have as many games in either series and not worry about new players not understanding things.

I have always thought this and always loved this feature of the two series.  The only thing that makes Tales more approachable is it's names since they are not numbered.  Without ever studying it someone could pick up Tales of Xillia and think it was the first game in the series, while people look at FFXV and think that they need to play 14 other games in order to be caught up.  These two series (along with Dragon Quest) have shown why this "new seperate story every game" formula works well as they are all the top selling names in Japan.

Zelda is more or less like this too; the stories don't have much to do with each other, but yes, there is a timeline for them, unlike Final Fantasy and Tales of. Fire Emblem is like this too, but since they talked about Marth and Ike as legendary warriors in Awakening, there may be a timeline between all of them that I can't see.

Yeah, I'd concur that this is what a lot of my friends think when trying to play games (like FFXV)

I actually want to get into a Tales game soon, because I too think that the Tales games are quite reminiscent of something like the Final Fantasy lore.

Yes, both franchises share strong similarities, and I love both franchises to death!  Final Fantasy and Tales are good games that offer amazing storylines, and I really hope more of these games continue to come out for the next few decades!

Tails, I'm still thinking about that Tales Of Final Fantasy crossover you suggested a while back...still thinking about it...and loving it every time I think about it! :')

Yeah, they are very similar, their stories feel similar not to mention Tales of Symphonia having pretty much the exact same story as FFX(at least in the first haft of the game) and there's a cool reference to Aerith too in Symphonia. Gaius has a very long sword and a similar fight pose as Sephiroth, they both have summons and ifrit is in both series
