September 24, 201510 yr The plot significance comes from the souls being used to open Etro's gate, as I said, souls take the form of crystal powder. It may be flawed, but that doesn't mean it should be written off just because it requires little knowledge of the lore that can only be gains by actually, you know, playing the game. Should they give out explicit plot details in the title? Should, for example, Days have been called "Kingdom Hearts Roxas Kills His Friend" A name like KH Origins is more self explanatory and less pretentious than Birth by Sleep And any....ANY TITLE is better than 3582 Days....and no it's not Roxas kills his friends. Y'know......it's hard for me to explain any further without bringing up other non-Square games cuz that causes people here to go on a defending tyrade even when they never bothered to know, try or look up the games I bring as an example It's like that one unnamed person who told me that an 80 hour RPG has no story cuz I dared to compare it to Square Enix's "perfect" work
September 24, 201510 yr If someone wants to get into the series they should be able to look passed the names. There's a Crystal embedded in the core of every Fal'cie and there's also the crystals used to summon the Eidolons. Oh, and the souls of the dead appear as crystal dust. And in XIII-2 enemies sometimes turn into crystals. Sorry, but it's "humor" like this that's the reason KH isn't as popular as it could be, because people can't see beyond "lol Disney and dumb names" when it's so much deeper than that.Last I checked, Kingdom Hearts is incredibly successful and well know. It's probably Square Enix's second most popular RPG series internationally (Dragon Quest is popular in Japan, but not so much elsewhere). It was also on a list of top selling games, the last time I checked. It might not be as well known as Mario or Pokemon, but it's much more popular than a lot of fans seem to think. I could name a lot of games that are far more obscure than Kingdom Hearts. I don't know why so many fans are in denial of the series' popularity.

September 25, 201510 yr There's a difference between being well known and being popular. A lot of people may know of the series but not actually bother to play it. You do know that games cost money to buy especially 60$ console games Not everyone is able to afford to buy a game they might not get into. Some just didn't find it appealing cuz the series never made the effort to include new fans in mind with how it's been handled as of late Not to mention the people who played the first two games but couldn't get into the handheld entries for a multitude of reasons

The official "rankings" for Square Enix's A-tier franchises are: Final Fantasy Dragon Quest Tomb Raider Just Cause Kingdom Hearts Deus Ex

FF, DQ, and KH are the RPGs on that list. While Dragon Quest might be more popular, Kingdom Hearts has more international appeal.

September 25, 201510 yr Deus Ex is an ARPG....I've never had an interest, so I didn't know. That's not really important though, since Kingdom Hearts is listed above it.
